So glad to have a little break in the weather. The amount of water we've been getting is pretty incredible and most of my coops got flooded. I could not figure out how the stalls got wet (some of my coops are horse stalls) but then I realized the water was coming up through the floor boards. Darn gophers must have tunneled in creating a channel for the water to come in. Drats.... Not sure what to do about this
but I changed all the bedding and hope we have a couple of dry days.

Is he related to the birds I got from you Jeff? I need a roo!
Those are brahmas. You got Marans from me. . My Marans came from someone out near Galt.
Ha! I was going to ask but was sure they were Blue Copper Marans.....my only experience with Brahmas are light and these don't have the eagle looking eyes like mine did. Ah well, that's what I get for assuming...you know.

Ill check my grow out pens. I might have one cockerel in there. Right now I have my hens covered with a black copper roo that I hatched from her eggs since I lost the blue copper roo in summer. I do have some other Roos but not pure lines and I can't recall the quality I the egg color they came from. , those you got are pure wade jean line. I did also set some shipped eggs that will hatch in a few weeks, some with excellent color. Gonna hatch those separate and band them so eventually I should have a wade jean roo for you if you need. Or if you are less considered with line and just need a roo to make more dark egg layers I'm sure j have something or you.
I really do care about the lines as well as the egg color. I can get a nice Black Copper Marans from SunnyDawn if I want to add a black cockerel but would really like the blue. I hope to buy some BCM from Sunnny this spring but for a Marans roo, I'd like a Blue. I wish my little roo from you would have made it, he was a good looking guy even at such a young age! I'll have to post pictures of the girls, they're really turning out nice, one especially. Let me know when you have the Blue Roo.
Hey Deb, are your Polish large fowl or bantam? I need a roo and some hens to add to my flock but still undecided on color (guess ill know when i see them) but I need LF.
I have both. In bantams I only have silver laced
In LF and currently laying, I have WCB
In LF, I also have Tolbunts, but they aren't anywhere near laying yet and I don't have any current photos of them (very old photo).
I do also have one or two extra BC Marans roos.
Deb
Too bad the Silver Laced is bantam, that it one color I have some good prospects that I am looking to improve on. Do you have any WCB pullets or will you have straight run chicks this spring? I have a nice WCB roo, looks very similar to yours, but I need a really nice white crested pullet to breed to him, I have a nice black hen but with her and my WCB I have some silly black pullets with black and white dalmation colored crests. One has an especially lovely crest but it's just not sure what color it's supposed to be! I'm interested in Tolbunts too but need to talk to Cheryl about those to help her with her situation. Is that where yours came from? Do you have Blue Polish? I really like the blues! I have the combo to get blues out of my flock but so far I didn't get any, but it was my first year breeding this flock and they started late so we'll see what we get in the spring. I rely on broodies so the breeding program goes much slower! And wow on the Marans. He's beautiful! Now tell me where all these chickens came from??? I know I should know but my brain is fried this time of year!

I don't have any WCB pullets available, but I will have straight run chicks. I've got 10 incubating right now and my first test hatches on them. The SL & WCB both came from Dick Horstman. Don't have any blues, sorry.
My first Tolbunts were from eggs I hatched from Cheryl. I do have more eggs coming from two other sources, but they haven't even been laid yet
My BCM originally came from Linda Hammid, the typical mix (Davis/Jeanne/Presley). I'm getting pretty good egg color. SunnyDawn just bought and hatched chicks from my eggs. She said my photo doesn't do my eggs justice. I've shown two of my pullets, the first time I got BB over a mid-size entry. The second I got RB over a fairly large entry. The roo pictured is a spare. Right now he's living in a bachelor pen and has been a gentleman with us and the other 10 boys he lives with.

They were laying pretty well, I test hatched a few and Sunny got/hatched some. As of a few weeks ago, they are mostly on a break, I only get a few eggs per week. I of course expect that to improve as the days are now getting longer.
The short answer right now would be, no, but I will when they start laying better again.
SilkiesForEver: Thanks! His name is Tain and he is my competition and personal protection dog. I have another German Showline GSD who I do German style showing and protection sports with. But the dark sable is by far my favorite color in the GSD.
RON! Yes I will share my news here too I confirmed recently that I am expecting my third and probably last baby! I surprised my husband for Christmas by telling him and he is thrilled
I am just hoping I get just one baby this time around and not TWO. As precious as they are and as much as I love them, I cannot do another TWO BABIES AT THE SAME TIME!! I might just die from exhaustion!
Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and will have a spectacular New Year!!
Oh my goodness you all have been busy! I don't think I can catch up. We had a good Christmas. I think I am more exhausted than anyone. I did a ton of cooking/baking. We had roast goose for Christmas supper. Very good. tastes nothing like turkey or chicken. I wouldn't even call it dark meat...it was like beef chicken. haha!
The chickens enjoyed the break today. My gorgeous Appleyard ducks got to hang out in the coop today. I am sure they enjoyed stretching their legs a bit from being in the brooder all the time. These guys feather very slow. The oldest ones are 7 weeks old and only half feathered. My last batch of ducks were completely feathered by 7 weeks and ready for the pond.
Our pup's first Christmas. Pitbulls can't NOT sit just anywhere. They have to sit touching someone. It's the funniest thing.
One of my pretty Appleyards
Their duck down is so funny. And they are incredibly soft too. Even the feathers!
Gary always crowing.
Gary and Black Betty...she snuck away from the flock to be with him. haha
I missed this thread! I avoided the computer for a successful 4 days.

Let me know when you have some. I am working on getting some pullets for Amy Beth.
