California - Northern

thanks -- although, i must admit, he's rather irritating this early in the morning (he actually started at 4:30) -- hoping he'll settle down a bit & not be *quite* as noisy...
He will probably settle down some. Though mine will start crowing just before sunrise some. When he first started crowing he would crow all the time.

the girls are also MUCH more noisy than usual themselves, and my neighbor's rooster just down the hill is creating a bit of a crowing duel... lots going on, and we don't get actual sunrise still for a while (my place faces NW, so the sun gets here late)

With the rooster addition the hens regardless of their seemingly happy in love disposition, are sort of up in arms about the changes, they will settle in

Happy New Years eve!

Also if there are NorCal peeps on here that would like to continue my work with my line of Mille Fleur leghorns can you send me another PM? I've been getting overdosed in emails and my meds don't help in the memory department!
I'm only charging for them because I want to make sure whoever gets them is really serious about continuing the work. I probably have 6 amazing trios available.

Sigh. I SO wish I could take a trio of your beautiful Mille Fleurs. I would love to work with them - I need a heritage breed to focus on!

I hope you'll be doing better soon.

I love living on the Coast but we also get sunshine deprived at times. We often have lunch up on the bluffs and do whale watching this time of year. Beautiful picture!
Hubby was feeling sunshine deprived this morning so we went to the coast. Sunshine was great but the breeze was cold after awhile.

Didn't realize it was full moon and high tide either, oh well.

ok, my flock of 12 are going to have to say goodbye to their all-female existence -- picked up a beautiful swedish flower hen rooster, 11 months old, from Deann this afternoon -- i think i'll call him Max:

hello handsome!

the girls are quite perplexed -- half of them are mad (especially frances the most-dominant SPPR and eleanor the basque, who's most-dominant of the younger flock), the other half are in love (especially Daisy the australorp)

dixie and ethel do not look particularly impressed...

thank you, Deann! Max bounced all around the run, pecking at things and crowing a few times and looking totally bewildered -- hung around for a while after all the girls went up into their henhouse to sleep, but eventually followed them. will see what everyone thinks of the arrangement tomorrow morning!
Love the pictures!!! I am sure he will fit right in.. He is quite the lades man. It will be fun watching the girls flirt with him.

Awsome idea Deb,
I have been fighting a cold the last couple of days. Today I got coop #1 at the new place.
Only 5x6 but wore me down moving it. It is semi level and I need to finish that and stain tomorrow. Plus build the 40x15 run
I had him tweak the design somewhat.
Oh and I need to add some roosts

I am using some extra Trex deck pieces to put under the wood so not to have contact with the ground. I may pour a concert floor as well.
This was tough to move. May be easier to build my own. For the next 4.
Beautiful property. Looks like you'll have plenty of space for lots of coops
