My questions was if it makes a difference if the pea comb is the roo or the hen. I have an Ameraucana roo that I'm going to be crossing with my blue Marans I got from Jeff to get OE. I lost my little Blue Marans cockerel from the same group, but my plan was to put him over my pea comb EE's and see if the results were different. So, you're saying it does make a difference who has the pea comb?

I was also wondering about these two cockerels I'm trying to rehome. They look identical except one has a pea comb. They look to me like they come from the same hen and all the offspring pullets from my hens with my Ameraucana roo and my hens have all been green egg layers so does that mean that both these boys should produce green laying offspring or just the pea comb boy? Sure would like to rehome these boys to someone on BYC. They're sweet boys, no aggression to us but they're stuck in my grow out pen most of the time because they have raging hormones and like to do "everything" together...if you know what I mean!

Love eggs that have speckles. I have one that looks similar to this but the spots are more chalky. Yours looks raised and it almost looks hot pink!

I caught a picture of one of my Gold Laced Polish pullets. She loves to be on this branch in the pen.....so much that most nights we have to put her in the hen house!

But she is a pretty girl....that's what I keep telling my husband when he threatens to leave her there!

Her tail isn't normally held this high, she was balancing....and she didn't blow out her crest after the last rain!

you can go either way way . Personally I think the best way is to use a True Ameraucana rooster breed with a Dark egg layer. This is the first generation cross.
Breed the offspring with the darkest eggs to a Dark egg laying rooster. I have heard you get better odds by using the F1 that have pea combs however. All the olive eggers I have had that had straight combs also laid Olive eggs. They where F1 Lavender ameraucana x barnevelder roo.

You can use a Easter Egger as well as long as it came from a Green egg. The nice thing with Green egg layers is it is like starting with a F1 cross and when you breed them back to a dark egg layer the first crosses may lay darker. If you know the eggs your olive eggers came from that would be key as though most lay green you can also get white , off white or brown. sometimes blue to.
Just my opinion. If you start with one of the two roosters I would use the one with the pea comb just in case that part is true

The poke is a last ditch effort so waiting until tomorrow is fine.

Does the person you got them from have more available? I would like to try these.

I am crazy for challenges like hatching these!

He probably does. he was hatching all he could but was kind enough to stop and send me 2 shipments. HeritageHabitat is the place Elias is his name. he is on the penedesenca thread.
I am wondering if I should wait till april again. My first batch of crele pene's hatched well then. after that nothing.

Thank You! I sent him an email to see if he had any eggs for February. I will share the chicks with you if they hatch.
also Sand Hill raised there penedesenca prices $1.00 per chick. On a good note by the black it says sold out through 4/16.
Do you want to go in still? I need to wait a few weeks to order now with the house and all. Plus if I get more adult emp's that is gonna cost me.
My chicken coops and runs are costing a fortune. I am using 6ft no climb and 6" peeler cores. with the gate and netting about 1400 each.
