California - Northern

Hi Crowzzz,

California is a long narrow state with many different climates. I agree completely with you. I am a Tehama County native (Go Spartans!) but now live in Woodland. I consider Woodland to be North Central California. Of course, it is in the Valley so when I went to Shasta College(Go knights!), friends from Weaverville called me a Flat Lander.

My current favorite is when the "CBI" from the Mentalist show bop from Sacramento to SanFrancisco from scene to scene like it is a 20 min drive. One time they were doing this stuff between Sacramento and San Diego

That distance takes you through a lot of States on the East Coast.

Bye,

Ron

I agree with Sandra, I always get a kick out of the So Cal news people that say something happened in No.Cal and they are talking Fresno, or San Jose, as though there is nothing farther North. We are just south of Redding, in Cottonwood, yes Redding is in the center of CA East and West, but a nice 1 1/2 hour drive has you in Oregon. I would put the line at about Sacramento/San Fran area.

Hi All,

I live in Danville and need a dozen or so fertile eggs to hatch for my son's Kindergarten class! Does anybody in the area have some that I can pick up? I'm happy to buy them from you. I can travel too. Oakland, WC, Livermore, etc... Any breeds or mixed breeds are fine! They will be turned over to me after they hatch so I can care for them and then add them to my flock. Let me know!

Thanks!

Jennifer in Danville

I don't have a rooster yet but am going to hide one soon.

Your best bet is the Bay Area thread. You could also send a pm to cherylcohen. I bet she could hook you up with some

Schools usually have the heat turned off at night and on weekends. You might consider either taking the incubator home over the weekend or setting the eggs in the class and taking it home until lockdown. The temp often goes too low at night in the classroom and often the kids jostle it causing poor hatches. Temperature can vary more at lockdown.

A mom that was part of the Easter hatch did this for her Child's class and they had a good hatch. The teacher said she had been trying to hatch chicks in her class for years and had never hatched one before this hatch.

Good luck,

Ron

HOPE YOU GUYS CAN HELP!!

I need to explore other options for a place to keep my breeders as my contract with Sienna Ranch may be coming to a close.

I am able to pay for land that I can rent or lease. I need about 700 square feet (of course more is always better LOL) and there must be easy access to water.

Ideally someplace close to lafayette/walnut creek area, but I'm also open to other ideas.

I'm also considering a partnership with someone that lives a bit more remotely.

PM if you have any creative ideas! Please ask everyone you know. It's funny how these things happen, you never know where you can find the

greatest ideas!! Thanks everyone.... I'm excited about the next adventure!

Glad you got a pair! I was so stoke on my first hatch 2 boys and 4 girls from (literally 1 boy and 2 girls each from two separate breeders). It was like the best hatch ever... so nice when it works out! :-0

Thanks Ron!! I'll check out the Bay Area thread...good tip on taking the incubator home for the weekend... :)

Someone was looking for a white egg layer that is calm and docile. I don't remember if it was this thread or not.

I found one that may work. It is called Austrawhite. It is a hybrid between Australorps and leghorns.

If this is where the question was posted, please let me know. If not, I will post this to the California the Whole State Thread.
