There was a chicken trade off last summer at a park where we do 4-h dog training. The person receiving the cockarel had other chickens, it was assumed she knew how to handle them. Incorrect assumtion!!! 10 of us spent 45 minutes trying to catch him again, after that fiasco I handle my birds.
Yes! Move them yourself.

Is there a video of the chase?

Thankfully there is no video.

Each year there is a dog pre-fair. The dogs and kids do the obediance and rally portions of the program. The obed. requires sits and downs and the beginning group was in the ring being timed on the "downs". All first year dogs.

On the same day each year poultry cleans up the barn, and the kids are supposed to bring their showmanship bird to practice once clean up is done.

Someone had a bird get loose, that bird led many adults in circles within the dog ring and not one of the dogs broke the down. Great kids, great dogs and an amazing trainer!

When I was at the Heirloom Expo, one of the chicken farmers came over and asked me if I had an extra feed sack for him to put his chickens in, to take them home. I thought it was horrible at the time but have heard about others doing the same.
I have used feed sacks to move chickens, I just choose the grain sacks that are woven plastic and not the solid ones for crumbles or dog food. I have also used gunnie sacks - but those are getting harder and harder to find. The birds do calm down a lot when enclosed in a sack, much better for roosters than a box or a cage - which they are always trying to bust out of.

Would it be possible to give the person the containers and have them transfer the birds inside their car with the windows mostly up? Freeway transfer sounds scary if you loose one - you could cause an accident or something.

I'm sorry about your hen that suffocated. That's a scary reminder that birds need more air than we think.

Feeling really blue today........today it has been 6 months since my husband passed away, oh why does life have to suck so bad?

That is a huge loss!

I am sorry you are blue today. I hope the chickens can help lift your spirits.

Thanks Ron, yes my chickens always lift my spirits, too bad I can't have one at work! lol
/hugs.
clearly your work needs a mascot silkie. It could wear a little vest with your work colors and logo and crow out front to attract people!

Or a turkey!
