I cant believe it has been that long. Now i have to do tons of catch up to see what is going on. We have been busy with a few house projects , ugh.. Just got a few new chickens in the mail yesterday and I have chicks growing up and some in the incubator :) That is what is going on here right now. We are enjoying the good weather and trying to take advantage of the dry days when we can. I lost my Black Silkie Rooster :( and dont have a back up boy so had a couple young cockerels shipped to me along with a hen and one that is hopefully a pullet

I love this Northern Ca thread but have a hard time keeping up so I read a lot when i can and dont respond as much as I would like to but want to say that i love reading about your flocks and seeing the pictures. Since I only have Silkies this is where I get to see all the other beautiful breeds I spend a lot of time talking myself out of :)

My cute Partridge Silkie chicks

Awwww, I am just drooling over the cuteness here. I have recently fallen for the partridge color - its so different. So many subtle colors in there! I have two blue girls and a black/red partridge rooster.. so in a couple of generations I should have blue partridge - I hope.

I bought 6+ for 15 dollars and shipping and got a message saying that she had 7 because she only got one egg on the last day. She asked me if I wanted to wait a day and have whatever they laid added to the shipment. God was good to me an all three laid and egg on the extra day! I have 10 in the bator on day 6 and they all have something going on in them!

So far I love the Octagon!
CONGRATULATIONS! I hope they all hatch. Please post pictures of your chicks. That's very cool that they are "experimental blue egg layers". Are they a hybrid of two other breeds? What do the parents look like?

Quote: Thank You!

They are a breed from a project at the University of Arkansas by Dr. Bramwells friend. Until recently, they were available for local pickup mostly for 4-H projects.

He is a showgirl.................not a SQ, not even a BQ.....................but he's a very sweet boy and would make a nice pet.  He has a face that needs a mother to love it.  He popped out of some shipped eggs that I bought.

Oh :) is the featherless neck normal?

It has been soooo gorgeous the past few days! It is 60 degrees outside right now and sunny-- very sunny!! The chooks have been digging it!
