California - Northern

@Cheryl, I really like what you've done. The moveable walls is a great idea. I did something similar with my breeding pen panels so I can go from a pair, to a trio or more fairly easily. I'm always changing things around.

@Deann, I really like my EG too - but only inside or when it isn't overly cold outside. I am another fan of the reptile bulbs. In my big brooder outside (one of those fiberglass fruit truck bins) I use both the EG and the bulbs - at opposite corners. Birdies have options

I also agree about this being a great group. I have learned a lot just lurking and reading what others are dealing with. Plus I have made some lovely friends.

It is a great group on here!

My nickname is "Helen Keller's MOTHER"  sorry this is in such poor taste... I got the nickname because I love changing furniture all the time

Poor chickens, as we know they are creatures of habit...well they are constantly confused at my house!

That is too funny. I enjoy changing things around a lot too. Poor hubby has threatened to nail his recliner to the floor. He's another "creature of habit"

I do try not to mess with my birds too much when I am really, really needing those eggs. Learned that the hard way last year when I had an order to fill at the same time I had a "creative arranging" wild hair. Birds took their revenge.

mendocinosunris Hi there. Thank you for the welcome. I am only about 25 minutes from you in Lake County :) I feel like an honorary citizen of Mendocino county because we have to go there to get just about anything :)

I am so impatient and the uncertainty of where/when I was going to get my chicks was driving me a little crazy...my sweet and indulgent husband would say that I was obsessed. So anyway yesterday pm I placed an order with Privett. They overall seem to have an excellent reputation for healthy chicks and they had most everything I wanted. So now I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of 5 each

Easter Eggers
Speckled Sussex
California Greys
Black Sex Links
Delawares

I ordered all pullets but if there is a roo or two in the mix that's OK. I have a guy who is either going to buy them or build my coop in exchange for my extra brooded 6 week old chicks regardless of sex.

Anyway my chicks are due to arrive on 4/26. I will post pictures when they arrive

So are any of you venturing down to the Fresno show on the 16th? I haven't seen a thread for it yet.
I'm not going to be able to make it to Fresno. My sister is having surgery for breast cancer and I'm flying to Denver that weekend to help with her girls. Are you showing birds???
