That happened once. Another time the egg was rotten and seeping within a week on incubation. Did they wash off the bloom? I would rather have dirty eggs.

My duck eggs will be dirty when I give them to you. Just a forewarning. Ducks have no laying manners. But I didn't want to clean them and mess up someones hatching routine.

Just wanted to let you all know that my sister's surgery went well yesterday! They did a double mastectomy and took out 2 lymph nodes which were clear. Praise God! She has a long road to recovery and a year for the reconstruction but we are just thankful that the cancer is out of there. Monet and I are staying with my nieces and doing fun girl things while mommy is in the hospital. It even managed to snow yesterday here in Denver so Monet got to play in the cold stuff.

Happy to hear things went well! Will keep praying for her!

Despite their age they did not smell bad. But they were all 4 duds. :( No veining or ANYthing. Just very runny egg white and yolks.

I did this with the 2 eggs that did not hatch under my broody. Both eggs were treated exactly the same way. Neither was washed. One was like you describe, the other one was green/black and stinky.

I think today is day 7 for the eggs under my new broody. I will try to candle them tonight!

Driving to Palm Desert...Computer plugged into the car for charging! Ipad and iphone nearby....webinar in 30 minutes...what a funny way to travel.

Meanwhile at home my hens will be very angry that they don't get to free range for 5 days! We have a renter that takes care of the birds while we are gone but I don't the idea of them being out without me being there. Big mother hen..

I'm such a ding dong...

I set eggs right after the Stockton show which means they are hatching this monday...and I won't be home... She's handled a hatch before...and really it's up to the chicks to do their job, she just puts them in the brooder after a day or so!!

Hi again Lake County chicken people have a facebook page that just started. Do any of you have anything similar? Is it a violation to be asking that? hope not.!
