California - Northern

Two Sportsmans, now that sounds like trouble.  LOL  I just got a Dickey and have my first chicks hatching from it today and tomorrow.  I put them in the Hova Bators at lockdown to keep the dickey from getting too gross.  LOL

I hatch about 30-40 chicks every week and struggle with the brooding process.  How are you able to brood so many chicks of different ages?  Your Elec bill must be through the roof.  I just built two new brooders but really wish I had made them 3' high instead of 2'.  The bulb sits so low I am afraid their are gonna bang their little heads when they attempt to fly.

I'm Constantly making more brooders. When I say I....I mean my hubby!
Not Quite sure Where I'm going to put all these chicks, but I have 20 days to figure it out...LOL

Molly - great news from the breast specialist.  I hope you get good news on your pituitary gland as well.  As for the 200 eggs - HOLY COW! :ep

Amy - wonderful pictures as always.

I know! It's hard not to incubate all the rare breeds....
Thank God some are pre sold...

What size do you get for a dozen? you just go in and grab them?
Ron told me about another shipping method that I need to look at to se if it requires special boxes.

where does everyone get there egg shipping boxes? I just set 45 crele penedesenca eggs and already have a dozen more I think plus some empordanesa and emp x partridge pene.
I need to start shipping some
Priority boxes are free at the post office. You can also go online to usps.com and order Regional A boxes. They are a top loading small box perfect for shipping 8-10 eggs/ 12 if they are small. The cost to ship in a Reg. A Box is usually $9.88 across the US and $5.65 within CA. Much cheaper than having to pay $11.85 for Med. Priority for small orders.

Unfortunately, they only carry the side loading boxes at the Post Office so you have to order the top loading online. They come in bundles of 25 and are FREE .. oh and they drop em at your door!!! There are other box sizes available on-line too. Check it out. It usually take up to 10 days for delivery, so order well in advance.

Reg. A Box (10-12) depending on Size (must order on-line)
Med. Priority (18)
Large Priority: 28-30

Be sure to print your postage at home, you will save a bundle... Plus, you don't have to wait in line.

great I will do. Can I order a few at a time? Then just take them to the post office pay and leave?

Awesome photos as usual... I love photography as well... wondering what you do on the camera to achieve that out-of-focus outer perimeter look....

I want to thank you and all of my Chicken Obsessed friends...I DO believe in Miracles. That is awesome about your friend. Prayer, loving family and friends are key. My Mom does reiki treatments on me. I know it's helping.

I agree with you on the 200 eggs keeping my mind of things. I currently have 50 + hatching in the hatcher! Crazy Me!
So glad to hear your news and can relate to your way of thinking.

They come in bundle of 25. You should print your postage on-line instead of paying at the PO. You will save lots of money and time. The Reg. A boxes are charged by weight and never weight more than 2 pounds. I always claim they are 2 pounds regardless of the number of eggs I put inside. 1.5 pounds and 2 pounds costs the same to ship, so I over estimate.

If you want help walking through the USPS website I am happy to help - just give me a call.
