California - Northern

Hi folks,
Sorry I haven't been on much. I've been pretty sick lately, but I am feeling much better today.

Hope you continue to feel better!
Yes, a very nice, high protein treat.

The issue for me was what to do with the eggs I don't eat, sell, give away, or donate to a nearby church. I gots lots of chickens. I don't have many paying egg customers.

I have scrambled eggs for the flock before, but the baked eggs treat is a perfect solution for me.
Why bake them instead of just scramble?

Guess how many Bresse have hatched out of 13 to lockdown?
Boy, you're on a roll now!
I set 15 silver spangled Appenzeller Spitzhauben eggs yesterday.... excited the look so cool!

Wow, I love these...and they're not all that pricey! I usually fall in love with the expensive ones.
I'm having a strange day up here today. Growers market opened today and I got to sleep in until the dogs demanded breakfast. We've done growers market for 13 years and this would have been our 14th. It is really strange not to be there but we just can't deal with the management anymore. I work to hard to have customers insulted and to be associated with the treatment some people receive. We are changing over to another market so it's back to building our customer base, an extra 80 miles driving each weekend and at least an extra 4 hours per market and a shorter market season. A search on YouTube fot Grants Pass Growers Market shows a little of the attitude but she knew she was being filmed and was on her best behavior. Done whining now.

Maybe it's the smaller number compared to other brooding but these wyandottes are so calm and quiet. They still spook everyonce in a while but compared to all the hatchery stock that has gone through my laundry room, they are great. Eric get that glazed over look when I talk chicken but with the BLRW he actually listens and comments. He even took a few pictures-all the same pullet-but pictures just the same. If I could find another breed he really liked-chicken math.
Wow...I watched the video! What a piece of work that woman is, no wonder you don't want to deal with her anymore.
This is the day for first eggs!

Stella laid her first Marraduna Basque egg and I got my first OE(Olive Egg) colored egg. This one is from a Marans OE.

Can't wait for OE's! Of course, I'm a long way away from one since I just put the Marans covered by my Ameraucana roo in the incubator tonight!

Wow, took me almost 2 hours to catch up after missing two days!

thanks my B-day was yesterday.....

I have 30 peeps coming or dinner and what am I doing when I should be cooking???? Catching up on BYC. I have 291 un-read post just on this thread alone. Holy moly .... you guys have been busy. I will likely only scan so if someone asked me a question in the last couple of days, you may need to ask again cuz I may not see it as I speed read through the pages.

Dear Deann,

May your thoughts be as glad as the shamrocks,
May your heart be as light as a song,
May each day bring you bright, happy hours,
That stay with you all the year long.
Happy Birthday!!

Wow, I don't think you were whining. That woman is an awful excuse for a human. I couldn't believe what she was saying to the lady with the service dog, I can see why you are leaving that place. Maybe if all the vendors left something would change.

OMG, you guys have been so busy on here....

Happy Belated Birthday....Congrats on all the new Chicks and incubating...

Ron, Bresse! Very nice!
I have missed having time for BYC, life has been crazy around here.

I'm getting more rare eggs then I should incubate, but that doesn't seem to be stopping me.

I hope everyone is doing well. ;)

Oh thank you for the photo!!! I had it set where I could only get 19! Saw your picture, took all the eggs out and counted evenly to split them up and I got 25!!!! Thank you! Thank you!
How's this look?
They look good
thumbsup.gif
The only thing I see that you might want to change is to cut a piece of the extra sponge and put it at the ends of the rows where the eggs are tilted. I am always worried that my eggs will fall into the ones next to it if they are loose in there.

Pretty bunch of eggs! Those Marans eggs are especially nice!

I picked up my lavender ameraucana eggs today and set them in the incubator!!!
wee.gif
I'm so excited!!!

I already posted this picture in the March hatchalong thread but wanted to show them here as well. They are a pretty turquoise (I found the camera seemed to render the colors better with the white paper in the egg carton lid). I think they appear slightly more vibrant in person.

Its going to be so difficult to pass the time waiting for these cuties to hatch!!!

Last night, we unloaded the non-GMO King Layer Pellets that my DH picked up for me at Scott's Valley Feed. It is called Freedom GMO-Free Natural Layer Pellets. It is corn-free and soy-free.

Jarehorn's....I just do not have the room....

After hatching Crele Pennes and Blues of the UofA, the Bresse are so different. You should hear them talk! Well you probably will today. It is time for another video!

I hope you are feeling better Molly!

My Bresse cockerel woke us up at 4:45 this morning! There goes my husband's dream of keeping him here in town! DH thinks that I should just bring him into the house every evening and keep him in a dog kennel. But his crow is really getting good and he has been crowing for 10 minutes about every hour this morning. He must be excited about all the girls in his harem!
