Im having some temperature problems. Either with my Genesis. Or my Thermometer.

My incubator is reading 99.5-99.9 and my thermometer is reading 95.9!! Big difference. What should I do. Today is day 20. Its been doing this since last night.

Ive calibrated the thermometer and it is reading 32 degrees. maybe a 10th off 21.9...32....32.1

should i bump my bator up a few degrees to be safe?

My Genesis has problems holding temperature when the humidity is raised. Bump it up to 98 on the thermometer. I have to raise the temp up to 102 to get the Genesis to 99 at lockdown.

They should be fine at 20 days. When they hatch, they are supposed to be at 95 degrees.

Ok cool.... we made it all this way without any fluctuations so hopefully theyll be fine.

so should i raise it or leave it?? I dont want to go messin with the temps if i dont need to.

Thanks Ron!!

Quote: If you trust the thermometer, raise it. Try going up 2 or 3 tenths of a degree and wait half an hour to see how much the thermometer goes up. I would shoot for the low end--97.5 is fine for hatching and some say they hatch better at that temp. On the geneses, that would be moving up 2 or 3, so it is set at 99.5 move it to 99.7 or 99.8.

Best!

Hatching people...I will be out of town and my husband will be collecting the eggs we will put in the bator from our hens. I put the thermometer/hygrometer in the room that is a) coolest and b)has the least foot traffic. The temps at this point are fine but I am worried about the humidity for storing the eggs. It is the 40s. Should have him keep a couple of open bowls of water by the carton to up the humidity? Should I worry about it at all? Thanks!

Yes, put bowls of water near the eggs. They should rest like this, tilted up on an angle and be turned half a turn several times a day:

Thanks, Ron. I cannot recall the last any of us have had antibiotics. My youngest 3 kids have never had them in their lives, my oldest once as a baby and my husband...maybe since before we had kids? For myself the last time I had them I was nursing my firstborn. This has been ongoing for a couple years but they always said it was anxiety. For the first time they admitted it was something else since when he had the spike of 150 heart rate he was laying down resting doing nothing. They said he likely has some sort of heart defect- we will know more in coming months. I hope. lol
