As for broodies we have had a major wave. 5 silkies 2 marans who may or may not have viable eggs due to some stinkers and 2 turkeys. Sparkles was not even laying. She just could not stand anyone else having eggs. The silkie s were grabbing every egg down there while I was sick so its gonna be stagger crazy. I just hope I don't get 5 hens raising one chick....

If EE Hens are crossed with Marans rooster will the chick have. Peacomb?
Usually a combo comb, straightish in the middle with peas on the side. With that cross, you will want to see some amount of pea--Pea is associated with the blue egg laying genes.

Ok there were 6 that I hatched out of the 31 and wasn't sure if I could tell them apart. They're all black.

What color were the EES? The Marans OEs from Chiqita look like the two black ones here.

They are both pullets--neither of those eggs I hatched were roos so I do not know what they look like.

Adorable. Where did you come up with the name Earlene? I ask because it's not a common name and my step dad's niece is named Earlene.
The first hatch along I participated in, there was a contest to write a poem. I wrote a two stanza limerick (I won). I wrote about a showgirl and the closest name I could come up with to rhyme was Earl. When Earlene hatched (my first showgirl chick), I named her Earl until she proved to be a pullet. Then I changed her name to Earlene, it just seemed to fit. Her hatchmate, a silkie that looks just like her without the NN became Randi as in Earl & Randy from the TV show My Name Is Earl.

Earlene (fits, don't you think?), this has been my desktop at work since I took it when she was very young.

Try putting furniture pads on his feet stretch out the toes and put them correct then tape it. If he is also splay legged put them in cups to make them use those legs.

Thanks Chiquita..... Put him in a cup? I haven't heard of that yet. He isn't splayed as he generally keeps his legs under him he just doesn't stand. He sort of swims/scoots around. Sort of sad really.

I have taken him out and stretched his legs and one more than the other will straighten, he just falls forward on his belly when I out him down. I tried to think of a way to make him walk but couldn't come up with anything.

Post a picture of the olive colored egg when she lays one!
Ok well it won't be for about 20-25 weeks but yes I will! Cuz the chicks mom looks like the one on the bottom right. Her chicks came out black. The Marans black gene took over :)
