Anyone familiar with Scratch and Peck feed?

I would be interested in hearing anyone's opinions on this one too. They carry this brand around the corner from my house.

They were giving out free samples of the Scratch and Peck Starter at the feed store in downtown Davis, so I got some and mixed it in with my normal chick starter. The chicks seemed to really enjoy it in small quantities, it has lots of little pieces of different colored things, so I think it provided them some excitement in their little brooder. After they got old enough to go outside and eat bugs and grass (they're about 8 weeks now) they seem to find it significantly less interesting, though! I have started mixing it with Purina Flock Raiser in the last week, and they consistently eat ALL the Flock Raiser and just snack on the Scratch and Peck when it strikes their fancy.

On the other hand, no one really likes healthy food as much as they like junk food! The Flock Raiser just smells like corn to me, and the Scratch and Peck is corn-free and GMO-free. I'd love to hear from someone who has hens old enough to lay, as I have no difference if the feed is affecting taste or quality of eggs at this point!

The bantam Cochins frizzles are so addicting...

I do have a grip I do I do but among the first eggs I attempt to hatch with a broody will be a LF Frizzle.

Yes, Blogs can be shared! just not other poultry forums. Poaching and all that.

I would like to see the blog. I get sad when I read about people rehoming or culling "egg eaters" I am sometimes ignored or not believed when I point out that egg eating is not the problem and that egg eaters are extremely rare.

Like I posted previously, "egg eaters" are extremely rare so when I read "caught the egg eater and got rid of her" and then a couple of days later I read "caught another one" and got rid of her...I know that there is something else going on.

BTW there was another broken brittle shelled egg in the nest box this morning but no one messed with it. My two opportunists are still in chicken jail until the brittle shell issue is resolved. Then I will put em back and see what happens.

There are 3 that I think may be white, and the brown one. So in the last pic you think the boy is on the left or right?

I am surprised at all the white chicks. This is new since the blue wheaten Ameraucana rooster has been siring the chicks. EEs color does change a lot up until a year of age so it will be interesting to see if they stay all white or have some other color come in.

I will try and get a better picture, my daughter was "helping" me get the chicks to look at the camera lol. I'll get a pic of the 3 white ones and the brown one too.
