Thanks Zooweemama for the worm link!

I love where you place Tracy in California.

Thank You Zooweemama and Ron! I appreciate your help! We want to set up a 3 drawer grow box like has been posted on this site but we didn't know where to buy 'Live" mealworms for it! It's so nice to have people here to help you! We really appreciate it!

After

All the old tarp gone. I ripped out all the old lay boxes. Dug up the floor and smoothed it back out and removing any trash like debris. We will be getting hardware cloth next weekend and laying that down and wrapping it around the outside.

Here is our future "run". Courtesy my mom in law. Isn't she sweet?

Slowly but surely. I go back and forth between sand and pellets for the floor. Sand seems like it would be easy to spot clean and shaded would be nice and cool....

If it doesn't make sense - I blame autocorrect. Sent from my sweet iPhone 4s.

We have sand on the floor in our run and love it! It is easy to rake out the poo if you want to and we just add a few new bags of it every 6 months or so. I do wish that we had just ordered a truck load of sand when we first changed over. It would have cost less money and been easier than buying 20 bags of sand at Lowe's.

Great cleanup job, zoo - it's looking good.
I'm planning on putting sand in my new run. I've never tried it before, but I keep hearing good things about it.

I'm guessing a boy, standing tall, comb and wattles appearing. Good luck!

I am thinking he is my keeper. I named him Samson. If he magically starts laying eggs- then it will be Samantha. But 'he' seriously is looking very roo-ish. What do you think? :)

Look at Samsom's comb already starting to look floppy. I swear it's like Pinnochios nose- everyday it gets bigger.

Welcome to BYC! It's always great to have new members on board!
I don't feed my chickens mealworms, not because of any health reason but... after slipping on a live one at a poultry show. It was a big mealworm!

I got mine on Ebay. I got a starter kit first & then order more meal worms separetely. I just looked for the best deal. I put them in a large abandoned aquarium we had sitting around here & they did great until I forgot to feed them & then even when I thought they were all dead I discovered they were still in there & added more potatoe slices & apple & we were good to go again.
