gooble gooble,
I would love to let some Guineas live off the land and keep the ticks away

i've been curious about this for a while -- why are guineas thought of as being so much better at eating ticks than other birds? wouldn't they all want to eat a fat little bug if they found it?

Jason,

I just hatched 9 of your Crele Pene eggs.  I am soooo excited!!!!  I will get pictures once they dry out and I know the boy/girl ratio.    Yipppeeee.  Thanks for the awesome eggs!!!
What are crele pene? A lot of the not cal ppl have them are they a special breed?

So are turkey eggs harder to hatch than chicken?
I met the lady who bought the BLRW chicks today, she was thrilled they were past the "baby stage" at three weeks. She asked me about Bourbon Red turkeys. She said she would buy all I hatched. Having only hatched a few times not sure what I might be getting myself into.

I think so. I have had bad luck getting turkeys to pip. even in a brinsea cabinet and not shipped eggs. YMMV

Thanks are you near Lodi
San Jose, But we go up there for the September wine thing and a few times a year, if it was not so hot id move there!
Anyone?(btw - just looked at the sand and apparantly I was wrong, it's waaayyy smaller than their food)
Change those towles once every day or so, they are poop machines.

I got shipped eggs today PACKED IN PLASTIC EASTER EGGS ( also of course bubble wrap. Too awesome. I now need to see if I can find a wholesale place that can ship me thousands for eleventy cents so I can use them too.

Sadly I did not take a picture. I suck.
But I did get this this morning!

This chick came out the side and got stuck like that.

they seemed pretty easy to me! they incubated along with the Guinea fowl eggs. I filled the middle tank--35% humidity and refilled when it went below 20%. During the incubation, there was a power outage and the incubator was un plugged over night! and they still hatched well and early.

I used the Genesis 1588 for them. The special eggs go into the Brinsea....

Since I'm still doing things the hard way in a still air LG I think I'll past on that thought! I would have to have the eggs shipped and a primitive incubator sounds like a recipe for disaster to me.
