Ohh eggies!!
I have heard the density of the foam makes a big difference. There are ones that absorb shock and those that don't.
Hey, Shantih! A few of these eggs have a purplish bloom on them! The prettiest one was one of the broken ones, though.

I'm not sure if you remember the winning Langshans from the Stockton show but those were from this breeders stock. Here are a couple of pics of them. These are not my birds but I wish that they were!

It's Saturday night, time to hang out and listen to music with the hubs, have a few cold beers, and the list goes on. Not on the list, however, treating a newly discovered prolapse on our beloved feed store BR who I noticed was walking funny and getting picked on by her friend. I picked her up and saw some clear liquid coming from her prolapsed vent. What's a girl to do you ask (because the medication required is not in stock at my house)? Walk next door and see if my good ole' neighbor may have some, of course! Luckily she was able to find what I needed! I took her into the kitchen and with the help of my oldest son (14) wrapped her in a towel and cleaned her off really well. I applied the prep-h and the vent is looking back to normal...for now. I remember reading someone was going through this recently. Was there success? I have her in a dog crate in the house. How long should I keep her inside?

I do remember them! I didn't realise class were a langanshan however. I'm a nooblit. I think there is a future in a purple egg however. Variety is right on trend.

Jason, do you leave your turner off for 3 days even when hatching eggs from your chickens? I have 3 Bresse eggs and 2 Langshan eggs from my own birds that I plan on hatching at the same time as the Black Langshans.
yes I leave it off for three days when they are in the nest box they are still on there side. It just seems to help everything settle and really the turner can probably stay off up to a week if need be. Ron or Deb would no better but I left it off a week once and still had a hatch. most of the Icelandics hatched that time. they where mine. None of the shipped eggs but well I do not have great luck with the dark shipped eggs lol

I have 4 hatch charts and have marked the eggs according to hatch. I will have to pay close attention or I will have a bunch hatching on the turners again...

It is so funny to look into the incubator to check on humidity and see a yellow duckling peering up at you! Adorable but scary when they can get caught in the rails....

The Biggest problem is keeping the Del eggs away from the RIR eggs. They look a lot a like. The SG Dorking eggs are white and the Basque eggs are shiny. I still marked them though.
So many chicks! Are you the one stocking all the feed stores

I just figured out my hatches--Dick Horstman shipped the replacement eggs from last year--They showed up without notice yesterday. I did talk to Dick two months ago.....then they just show up!

I have 130 egg incubating right now in three incubators and under a broody. I have space for 4 more eggs and then I would need to start stacking them.....The eggs will hatch at 4 different times so 4 staggered hatches going on at the same time.

How did this happen?

Did you figure out how to incubate all those guys? I have an incubator you could borrow if you want. It's nothing special, but it would fit 35 eggs pretty easy.
