Cheryl- I'm so sorry for your health issues. <3 I hope your posting means you are feeling better.

Pam- Debi from Red Bluff? Or the Debi in this thread? How awesome that she hatched some eggs for her friend though!

I've been thinking that I'd love to have a few blue egg laying pullets- I don't feel like that would mess with me keeping my Marans pure because Marans lay dark brown eggs so it would be easy to keep track of what was purebred and what were my Easter Eggers correct? I mean when a BC Marans hatches- they are unmistakeable in appearance. And with keeping just one breed of Roo I would ensure that I would have some EEs and that I still have some straight bred BCM right?

I would REALLY love to have green eggs. Thanks to BYC for planting the egg color virus in my brain. :P I don't want other colors really but I would love to have light brown, dark brown and olive eggs.

I think Debi is Petrock?

. Egg color is very fun. I love all of the colors.

Next on my list is Purple. Wolftracks from Modesto is working on chickens that lay purple eggs. I saw a picture of one that looked to be the color of a plum.

no, no $50 is the minimum order. cost is 2.75 per chicken but you have to have enough chickens to incur a cost of $50. Or I could bring in my 10 chickens and it would cost me $5 each chicken. They would take my chickens but not go down on the $50 minimum fee.

Oh no the heck way! How cool is THAT??? So I would need to find some who is selling a pea combed breed or a cream leghorn if I understand right? Then breed that pullet/hen to my BC Marans? The those offspring will give me a hopefully rich green colored egg?

Oh gosh. Duh! Sorry! That sounds better! lol

Thanks for the replies and the suggestions! I feel less stressed about Saturday. I also can't wait to be home and get back to participating on this thread!

Thanks but unfortunately no, I'm having to cut back on my hatching, it's just too much for me until the doctors get this all figured out. It's been over 5 months and still in horrible pain

I'm doing quite a bit of flock reduction and new pullets as well if anyone is interested.
