yeah but it was worth the risk.

With the icelandics I think, judging purely by comb color, that I have two and two if so, of the 6 I got from you there are 3 girls which is what anyone would expect

Yes, you should get a mister. I have two that hook up to a garden hose and a timer. They are set to turn on at two and run for 3 hours. If they are still hot when I get home, then I run it longer.

Give them electrolytes a couple times a week during the heat.
I think I'm going to have to put my 15 week old Cornish X girls in the house for Friday and Saturday. I'm either going to have to make XXL chicken diapers, or put them in a big dog crate. They are so big, and I don't want them to die of heat stroke.

I am calling 50% girls good odds these days.. When I look in the pasture, I see a sea of roosters.

Cornish X? They should be huge at 15 weeks and ready for processing. If they get too big the place in Sac won't take them.

How much do they weigh? They weigh a lot more than they look like they weigh.

They are huge!! The last ones we did a couple weeks ago was 9+ pounds after processing W/O the innards. They must be over 13 pounds (alive) I'll try to weigh one tonight. I only have the 3 left, and I think they are getting close to POL. I have a couple of them squatting, so we're gonna try to keep them around for a little bit to see if we can do a Cornish X-cross project. We're processing them ourselves, so we don't really have to worry about how big they get.

You are doing a great job if you get them to point of lay!

They are the size of small Turkeys!

If they look fully feathered they will be fine.

They might act scared of the dark though. It is funny to see them piling on top of each other....

LOL, I know my flock don't really think it's bedtime unless I turn on a light. :S They are getting better though. Silly humans, inanvertently training the chicks to go to bed with a light.
