California - Northern

Here's a question. Could I hatch quail under a bantam? I think my big girls would crush the eggs but I've got an OEGB that just won't quit setting. I will have to convince her to go into isolation first - she hates that.

I had to have a smog test run on my Honda today--It passed fine. While I was waiting, I went to Hays feed to check on the new Bar Ale Natural. It is a 40 pound bag and the Grower cost is $29.00 and the Layer Pellets are $28.00.

Much more expensive than the King Feed Freedom at 50# for 22.50 per bag.

I have 8 Pita Pinta and 1 EO Basque hen hatched out of 11 set. The 10th one has a pip!

Pictures later.

I just ran across a coupon for king feed: http://king-brand.com/new/attachments/article/115/freedomwebcoupon.pdf

Post a picture Jason, I'd like to see it.
here it is. it is on the outside of the run with a chicken door to the run and the main door on the outside. eventually the whole area will be fenced. now its not so I will add extra protection.
the only things capable of getting into it will be mountain lions or bears which not much you could do about them anyways

edited to say " well I can not post pic's at this moment"

I hope they are able to get it in.

I got the new black penedesenca coop in place and stained today. I put stucco wire on the bottom at ground level. Tomorrow I add all the sand and add a few roosts .
this one is 5x6 open front coop

Yes , please post when you can. Building pictures are so much fun. We have set the post for our chicken "yard" Tomorrow the wire... It's large enough to allow the birds out of their runs in rotation. It will be nice to give them space but not let them eat my flowers!

that is very nice!
thanks.
so tonight I moved the U of A blues , the black pene rooster I got from you Ron and the 2 young Emp roosters into the dogloo coop in the big run. Tomorrow when I let them out they will be with the older black pene flock ( older by about 2 weeks I think ) hoping all goes well.
Rons black pene rooster is nearly as big as the other I kept but I have 1 huge crele penedesenca rooster in there too. he is a week older than the black pene flock.
I hope all goes well . that crele I want to use with the silver ameraucana I hatched 5 weeks ago.
the 2 white empordanesa roosters I am not sure if I will keep but would like them to grow some to see if one will be a replacement for Whitey next year
