I would think so. The part of the equation that makes them sexable is the barring factor. That is a separate gene from what controls the base color (black, blue, red, lemon, chocolate, etc barring).

If she seems fine otherwise, I'd turn her back out with the flock.

Thanks should I just do it while they are ranging? I am a little worried she has lost her place in the pecking order seems like letting her out when they are all out and about will be best??

Quote: When they've been separated for a short while, your best bets are always at night when everyone is sleeping (wake up to, "hey, where've you been?" LOL) or while they are free ranging. It makes it so there is lots of space to move away from each other. Since you free range, I'd probably put her with them now and she can go back into the coop at night as normal.

There might be a small tussle for position, but I doubt it would amount to much as long as she is back to feeling normally.

Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled to not be dealing with the heat during chores, but I thought the rain was only supposed to be yesterday. Today was only supposed to be a chance of showers. I'm going to wait on the bulk of my outside chores until this afternoon, hoping things dry out, but I HAVE to go feed the sheep, open up a couple of brooder sheds and turn the turkeys out of their nighttime pen. I am ready for DH to get home from AZ. He does all the outside chores normally except the ones I WANT to do

I realize I'm spoiled, but I like it that way!

Last night when I locked up, I could see three turkey eggs in their shelter, but I looked at the "mud" I'd have to walk through and thought......................"oh, I'll get those tomorrow", LOL And now it rained all night. I'll need to wear barn boots, ick!

I am really excited about Beakface being on the nest! I will move her tonight out to the broody pen and hopefully I will be able to put eggs under her Thursday. I will also post a picture. I know you all have seen hysterical cranky broodies many many times so feel free to skip over it.

My Husband is the funniest person I know. He casually cracks me up all the time with the things he says and the way he says them. One day he was listening to me prattle on about chickens and he referred to a still unnamed chick as Beakface. I laughed and it stuck. To be honest though The 2 ALs looked so much alike as chicks that I really don't know if she is the original Beakface or the original Buckbeak. Now it is clear who is who but H just refers to them as "The Beak Sisters" or "The Black Ones".

Thank you! Her bestie is Beakface so she may be adrift but she will cope I am sure.

You could put her in with beak face she might go broody too!
Mario calls all astrolorps after ours onyxia. He has one video he likes that is some Australian with a ton of free ranging aust's being let out he used to call the freeing of onyxias.

He would totally steal beak sisters!

Had bad news from davis last night on max. I'm going to have to call them and figure out what to do.
Thank god for quarantine.

For some reason my DH can't (or won't) remember the names of the breeds, so most of them have names he can remember.

"So dark red they look black chickens" = HRIR
"P2's" = Lakenvelder (he knows lots of them by their pen number - Poultry Palace, run 2)
"Presley chickens" = BCM - the rooster's name
"Archie chickens" = New Hampshires - the rooster's name
"Beat ? chickens" = I'm not saying the breed, but raised to try to beat one well known exhibitor, so I'm also not saying their name, LOL
"Used to be H1's" = SL polish (they now live in C1 - Chicken Chalet as opposed to Hen Haven)

Almost all of the breeds are that way. I'd think it would be easier to just remember the breeds, LOL, but it works for him. When you get hatching eggs from me, they are always labeled two ways depending on who collected them. Silver Campine would be "SC" (me) or "H3" (DH). It throws people off, so I always tell them when I ship eggs.

The funniest are my Isbar eggs. I of course write "Isbar", but they live in with my egg flock, DH writes "Egg"

, we call that run "The Egg House". I always think people will think I'm nuts when they get an egg labeled "egg"!
