California - Northern

Hopefully, the human helper would read & heed the warning but I'm not sure that the chicken?/raccoon?/possum?/rat? egg & embryo snatcher would. Poor Fiona! I'm going to have to break her or find some day olds to slip under her. Of course it had to happen while I am taking a break from hatching! I think that I will finish cleaning out one of my outdoor brooder areas and put Amelia in there with her 2 eggs. My head hen is great at defending her nest when broody but these two are not!
I am hatching SG Dorkings this weekend for kim. She will want them back though.....

It is almost time for a Health Check.....

. Seeing 109-110 downtown Sac now. 111-112 driving thru W Sac.
The thermometer on the car said 108 at 1:30. The official temperature is always lower.

It is very hot though. I had to pull and Australorp out of the nest box--she was making a kind of moaning noise. I put her up to the misters and she flew to the ground! I got a spray bottle and emptied it on them. The overheated Australorp got most of it.

I hope she makes it! The stress could get her if she has Fatty Liver too.

We went to the flea market today and got few boxes of $1.00 fruit and melons. I put in the freezer to throw out to the chooks. Except I stole some of the strawberries.

They will not know....

Mossy huzzah for your first egg ever!!! Rob glad with your overheating girl. I put some electrolytes in the fermented feed this morning just in case.

Chopped just had a show with Blue Foot Chicken in it!

Apparently Bresse needs to be poached to be good. The winner of the episode poached the Bresse in Tequilla and butter....Wow!
