California - Northern

I think my 2 shepherd/Lab mixes would eat the chickens if they could. The older one just stands there and drools if we bring a chick inside. The chicken yard is completely fenced off from the rest of the yard, so they can't get over there.

My bigger chicks are getting huge! They are running outside with the big girls now. Most of these are the one's from Jason. I think all of them ended up in pairs. What is your opinion of the dark brown one. That one is the Penedesenca chick that was gender confused. The two I'm thinking are pullets have different coloring.

The "then" picture

And now. They are almost 8 weeks old.

Very nice looking!

Is that a Dogloo in the back Jason?? We are going to retrofit one for Curly's coop. Can you tell me how you have it set up? Did you put in roosts and nest boxes? On a chicken note I think Silver Ameraucanas are now one my silver list. those are pretty chicks!

I took some pictures in the fading sun tonight. To be honest, I do not know which I like to see more--The Beautiful chicks or a lawn in my Back Yard....

Pita Pintas and on Basque hen.

what would be the reasons for a brinsea mini to be dragging the eggs but not actually rolling them over? what can I do about this? cant seem to find anything to troubleshoot this...

Kandi

I do not know about the Mini--I have the Octagon.

Call them up tomorrow. It is not crucial to tun them all the time but had turn them until it is figured out.

I registered my Brinsea so I have a two year warranty.

Set the "turning angle" to 15.

I had the same problem and the manual didn't explain the turning angle adequately (for me). A very nice Brinsea representative suggested I try the 15 turning angle setting. It worked and I have never changed it since.

Lolol. Your lawn! It does look nice and green mind you its just struck me as funny that you were admiring it so..... I see a lot of res in those black and white chickens. Is this a breed that you are able to tell the difference early? Thay are very pretty though.
ok, the cuckoo marans Dixie has two chicks out and about (still sitting on three more eggs): they look like they're sharing secrets already... and the other broody, Jane the light sussex, has one out and bouncing around (but i couldn't get a photo yet), and at least one more is pipping. both broodies have 5 eggs each, all silver campines from Deb. more to come, i hope!
Wow that is an amazing pattern on their faces!
Campines are the next breed up for class on the Chicken State University - large Fowl thread. Wellies have been very popular and I hope there is just as good of a class on the Campines. I will let you all know when that class starts.
What? What is this? What am missing.
So.... Went to pick up one new kitty and ended up with two ( that makes four total) ... Meet up with Juststruttin for a doz eggs and ended up with three doz, signed up for the August box swap( more eggs I hope) , family coming up for the weekend, and my 40 th celebration. only thing missing is the grand baby due on the 25th. Oh my goodness what an exciting weekend! Is there a chicken math addiction overcomes thread;-)
Ah ha!!! Deann is good at that! How do you think I ended up with 45 eggs to hatch in a turner that only holds 42? And I was only planning to hatch about 30 max!

Awwww they are already so pretty!!!
We have twin daughters that just graduated college. First born has been actively pursuing her dream of one day owning and running a barn/stable....what else do you do with a Theology degree right?? Anyway she has an unpaid (but room and board) internship for 2-3 months which will turn into a paid "head groom" position if she works out at this place http://kristinschmolze.net/ in New Jersey!!! She was hired day before yesterday and leaves early tuesday a.m. Exciting stuff going on around here. Our son is heading to CSM in a couple of weeks and that leaves us with just one kid at home and with any luck she will find a real job SOOOON! In the meantime school starts for me on 8/12 so she can be the day time chicken keeper/ house keeper/ errand runner and cook while I am at work. The goal is to make it such a pain to stay home she can't wait to go be a grown up ;)
If only i had had any inkling what I wanted to do......be happy she thinks she knows what she wants. :) You obviously started your family in high school???? Cause you can't be more than 38 right?

I have mine on 6 according to the size of the egg. What tray did you have in there, and how many eggs were you trying to load? From what I have read the number just dictates the seconds of the turn...
Also for some crazy reason our costco just stocked organic layer crumbles. I bought one to try. Its 19.00 for a 40.00 lb bag.
