H! As we were driving away from home to go to church we saw this HUGE bobcat on our private road! It stopped and turned and went away from our yard but it looked as it it was heading towards the neighbors garden which butts up to our garden area and coop run!

What an exhausting day!  DH and I helped process 39 cockerels/roos at the farm today.  It took us from 9:30 to 2:30 because we only had 5 adults, and 4 teenagers doing the work.  My job this time around was cleaning out the innards.  It wasn't too bad because by the time I got them they were mostly plucked so I didn't know which bird was which.  The hard part was choosing which birds went to death row and which were wormed then released back into the field.  We narrowed our Silver Penciled Plymouth Rock roos down from 4 to 1 and our Langshan roos down from 8 to 4.  One had a crooked keel that I didn't notice until we saw the plucked bird.  It was interesting to see.

We rushed home, showered, and headed to Chuck E Cheese for our grandson's 5th birthday party.  What a way to end our busy day!  My DH is crashed on the couch! :)
Sounds like a productive day! It's nice at the end of the day, you can say you got a lot done. And went to a party too!!

So I was reading about Egg drop syndrome, It doesn't really say if it can be passed to other chickens. Does anybody know if I should be worried about my other chickens? Meanwhile I will keep looking

How do you "Blow out" an egg? One of my chickens died yesterday but laid an egg prior. She had been ill for a few days and I don't want to eat the egg. I didn't think I liked her but I cried for that 3 yr. old leghorn. I buried her by our dog.

You can poke a hole in each end of the egg and blow it out. Michaels sells a kit for blowing out eggs too.

After the egg stuff is out of the shell, rinse it out to remove it all. You then either air dry the shell or pop it into the microwave for a minute. The Microwave is supposed to make the shell tougher and harder to crack.
