Do you worm in water or what's the treatment method?

With Valbazen, you put it in a medicine syringe and squirt it in the birds mouth. Pull on their wattles and their mouth will open.

Ivomec is a topical wormer, so that goes on the skin.

What would do this to eggs in the nest? DH found them like this mid day. The one on the left is empty the one on the right has pretty much just the yolk left. The tops are cracked and chipped away. We suspect Jays. So irritating! These were two nice big beautiful eggs.

beautiful

funny, i have four in my meadow this evening, one young one (of uncertain gender) pronking wildly, at top speed, up and down the meadow, to the point of panting -- all just showing off, i think!

and i found my first isbar/marans cross egg today! see if you can pick it out in the lineup below:

that's campine on the left, the two Amelias next, then the isbar/marans, then a marans on the right. wonderfully dark olive!

and interesting re: the Amelias, i had them in separate pens for a couple of days, and the one who looks more CL-like (light-colored neck/hackle feathers) has the almost-blue egg, and the one who looks more penedesenca-like (darker neck/hackle) has the olive-y egg. but the isbar/marans beats them both (although admittedly it's her first egg ever, so might get lighter over time)!

So sad.

It probably was Jays. Nasty birds.
