I think they are Barred Rocks...Silver Pencil Rocks...http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=silver+penciled+rocks&qpvt=silver+penciled+rocks&FORM=IGRE ... I love the feathering
I might have Silver Penciled Rocks this spring. I culled down to 1 roo and I have 4 hens. If I decide to put them in a breeding pen, I will have chicks and eggs to sell. I only have 3 breeding pens as of right now and several different breeds to cycle through them. SPPRs are not top on my list as of right now but that can change.

I might work with Bresse this year too. That is more Iffy though.
I narrowed my cockerels down to 2 plus I have a few more younger boys. But most of the pullets started laying a few weeks ago and I'm not even sure how many we have in addition to my two hens who are the mothers of all of these young ones. I need to spend some time at the farm watching them and choosing the best hens to go into breeding pens with the boys.

OK, another project (like im not busy enough) I just bought mealworms off ebay LOL. what do i keep them in and what do they eat? how fast do they multiply? i know I can look all of this up with my friend google but was just looking for personal experience of what you guys may do if you have them ?
Oooh, I've been doing mealies for about 6 months. I put mine in a bin with wheat bran. I heat it up in to oven first(supposedly freezing doesn't work) to kill any grain mites. Let the bran cool before you put your mealworms in.

I put a small piece of tule netting (fabric store) on the bran.Keeps food from going down low and molding. Then place on top, my preference, thinly sliced apples. I like those best because there isn't much leftover that I have to pick out. Lettuce, potatoes are horrible. Cut it thin so it gets eaten quickly. Just 2-3 small slices. They should eat what you put in, in about a day.
on the top of it all, i put newspaper. they like to hide. I just got beetles that came from eggs that I grew (I guess you'd call it that

) I had to bring them in the house so they didn't die in the garage from the cold. My family didn't like it at first, but they don't even notice it anymore

Check out the mealworm thread. I learned everything there
