They might be. The second one more so. There is not much of an upraises outer ring though.

Toss a couple into the incubator or better yet, add one a day for 5 days with the date marked on them to see when they go fertile.

Interesting, you are the first I have heard of that missed the gene. I'l make a note on my website. I guess I was feeling overly optimistic about the project.

Depends on the size of your bator. If you have the space, I would try them again when you get the other eggs. If they develop, great. If not, no harm no fowl. I just set eggs that spent the night in the coop on an evening with below freezing temps . It will be interesting to see if they develop.

Someone on one of the threads I am on(I think it was callducks but it could have been yellow housefarms) said he did hatch frozen eggs. They did not hatch if the shell was cracked but otherwise they survived freezing fine.

The first one has a halo ring around it so it looks fertile. The bottom one looks big enough but I do not see the ring.

There is a good chance that at least one of them is fertile. Did you pluck the feathers on their vents?

yes and she got so mad at me she didn't lay for a week lol! And he wasn't ready I don think. But he has been breeding her at least since this morning, my husband saw.

I thought, no big deal I'll trim around their vents and see if that helps....no..it was a 30 min job and I ended up plucking them both. out if all my orp breeds they're far fluffier! But I have to admit with plucked butts they do look pretty funny...hence the reason she didn't give me any eggs for a week. Lol

Ron, on another note, for my f1 olive eggers (Easter egger hen x bcm rooster) should I have them in with the bcm roo again or a Easter egger roo to get a better chance to continue the olive color?

It takes two or three days for the first fertile egg to come through the system. I would not fret that though. I doubt you watch them all the time so he has likely been mating longer than you think.

You will have fertile eggs for sure!

Eggs are amazing. I thought it was worth a try.
