Quote: Good to know. Well quiet is definitely not a Pekin trait, but all my neighbors and I Quack up because the females sound like Donald duck laughing. And when they get scratch thrown in their puddle... they make all this funny noise like they can't shut up from talking to each other for one second... even with their mouth full *snicker* But they are purdy.![]()
Are Muscovy's the same size and get butcher weight in 8 weeks too?
Hi!Howdy all. I am a newbie here and I have lots to learn. My wife of 45 yrs and I live in the Real Nor Cal. A small town called Happy Camp on the Klamath River. Nearest traffic light is over an hours drive. SF is a 6 hr drive SOUTH. We retired here in 01 and are now ready to settle in and have some chickens. I have no questions now but will be reading up on all the info here and surely have plenty of questions later. Have a great day all.

Blue is an incomplete dominant but I thought you could get double blue Genes. That might be specific to a flock or Breed.I found this info on egg color genes somewhere. Don't know who to give credit for it to.
white x blue = light blue
white x green = 50% light blue, 50% brown
white x brown = brown
brown x blue = green
brown x green = 50% brown, 50% green
1. Is this information correct?
2. Does "white x green = 50% light blue, 50% brown" mean that half of the resulting hens will lay blue eggs, and the other half lay brown eggs?
Maybe not more confused; just created more questions.Sorry if I confused you more!

It is complicated by not know exactly what Genes the parents have. Selective breeding and good record keeping can help figure it out.Maybe not more confused; just created more questions.![]()
