Looks like the OE chicks legs are turning slate colored. Since these are the first OEs I have hatched, it will be interesting to see what these chicks turn out looking like

Can't seem to stop taking pictures today!

speaking of egg color....here are some of mine from yesterday :) wish I could find the right light and background to show true colors
Really pretty eggs !

My Cochin cross banty and BC Marans have finally started laying on the 1st of this month. The ones I got from you, Chickee, have not quite started yet but I expect the older one to start any time. I looked back at my "first eggs" picture from last year and they were laid on 1/5/13. There must something about the lighting in my coop/pen or maybe it's just that the days are starting to get long again after the winter solstice. The banty eggs are so cute! I almost felt bad eating them.....almost.

A picture for those of you that have kids and/ or have watched the Disney Tinkerbell movies. I saw a single and very odd feather on one of my hens today.

It was on a hen that had just finished up molting. I think the "fairies" forgot to paint all the lacing on this feather, LOL.

Trisha

PS:

My small "test hatch" has added up to 64 eggs set :hide

And all these years I thought Pixie Dust made Tinker Bell fly. Come to find out it's been chicken feathers all along.
