ok question for those with UofA Blues : how well do they lay? i'm reading like almost 300 eggs/year. That would be Amazing! But would like to know if it's true. And do you also have CL's ? Wondering on the comparison. I'm reading that those are laying a medium egg. I'm really liking the idea of the penedesencas crossed with the U of A blues. Sounds like a good layer in the making. I want so many breeds right now, my head is spinning. I don't think I can get all those different pens set up for certain breeds, but at least if I can have some layers of each I'd be happy. Or maybe just a few of each.

They lay well so far but they are a leghorn cross. They need lights to lay all those eggs. I have read posts from some that have both and the UofA blues lay more eggs for them.

The CL X CP(Cream Legbar X Crele Penedesenca) lay a lot of 65G eggs. Amazing given their size. I do think Pene x UofA Blue would be a great cross for Olive egg layers.

Happy belated birthday Ron!

Dropped off my LG incubator with a 4-Her last night. She is doing a record keeping project and will be using the bator as her source for it. They will be some strange birds if her Wilkie is fertile. She has an EE, BR and a couple of BSL in with mom's BOs. They checked a couple of eggs from the frig and no bullseye's so I'll send over a couple from my blew and bantam orp pens. Hope she gets something to grow..

I have one pullet. She lays an egg almost every day. They are small to medium sized. She did take a long break during molt season but never looked like she was missing feathers.

The blue eggs are pretty but I get the same number of larger brown eggs from most of my Delawares.

 Well, I did get pullets that were supposedly 7 and a half months old midSeptember and finally got my first egg less than a week ago... That may color how obsessed I am That, and I only have 5, and have a zoning-imposed maximum of 11, no roosters (I need a white layer, and a blue layer, and a dark brown layer, and a green layer, and/or an OE, and maybe some other color layer (the plum someone mentioned a few weeks ago, for instance)... I've got light brown pretty well covered.)

How would you compare Crele Penedesenca with Marans? Eggs, personality, care?

Most of the breeds with plum eggs have some Langshan in them I think. The ones I have been getting look plum colored when dry but look brown when wet. The Bloom changes the color.

It is very cool to see.
