Hi @Luvinmyhurd

Don't worry about reading everything since you where gone. There is way too much.

At the change of seasons it is a good idea to have a float test to check for worms. Samples can be sent to UCD if you do not have a local vet that will run the test. You could test yourself if you had a powerful microscope.

UCD charges $10.50 for the test.

Someone offered Serama eggs yesterday or the day before. I hope you find some.

Thank you for the info! I'll look into the website. Surly they'll have how to collect and send it on the website.

Happy belated Birthday! Your really are an incredible source of information! Thank you for all your wisdom and experience so freely givin.

no plum colors here, but I'm delighted to have received 16 gorgeous isbar eggs in the mail today -- perfectly packed, no cracks or trouble -- will let them rest overnight & then into the incubator tomorrow! and since it holds 20 eggs, i might have to put some of my birchen marans' eggs in there too...

@lawatt you may as well know that sometime this spring/summer I have every intention of hitting you up for both birchen marans and isbar hatching eggs

So happy your eggs arrived safely. Happy hatching!!!!

That is great news!

I just read another post about how breeders will not ship eggs because the Post Office is hard on them. I get tired of fighting that battle.

Proper shipping is what is needed.

yay! i'm not working with very many birds yet, but soon will have a trio of birchens working away, and in a couple of months will have a trio of isbars, plus hopefully lots of little chicks growing up from this batch.

hoping the shipped eggs hatch better than my first two attempts!

i've got a friend coming over shortly, so it will have to wait til tomorrow -- they're actually not super-exciting colored, quite pale greenish/blueish -- but they are pretty, and the birds themselves are just gorgeously elegant. here's a picture of the previous batch of isbar eggs i got from the same person, in San Diego (i had trouble with my brand-new incubator with these, and only one hatched):

Those are pretty! Look sort of sage with a blue tint. I do love the look of the birds. If I didn't have so many different breeds right now I would be getting some

They sound REALLY NEAT! I may have to add this to my hen-house wish list.

@CackleJoy I think you've just been a victim of enabling! I say this same quote about all the breeds @ronott1 , @Hangtown Farms , @juststruttin and the rest of you talk about. This exact quote is where it all starts! But I'm so thankful for the wealth of knowledge. I had someone tell me that I like just exotic breeds. I said "well, I like things that lay beautiful eggs and a lot of them". So thank you all for helping me learn so much and figure out what chickens I will enjoy the best! I would be on the plain hatchery birds if it weren't for you (although I enjoy them too!)
