I set the eggs exactly 21 days ago at about 4pm.

should they be completely hatched at 4Pm today or begin hatching at 4pm today?

There is no set time to hatch--21 days is an average for all breeds. Some hatch less than 21 days and some hatch more than 21 days. One of the contest at hatch a longs is to guess which breed will hatch first for the Thread Starter. Bantams often hatch early.

Once the first one hatches, the hatch is usually over 24 hours later. That is not always true. I have had some breeds hatch over a three day period. You should expect the first pip on day 20 usually.

The first pip is exciting because it means there will be chicks!

EE eggs? I sell them for a dollar each. That way it is not so scary. Loading the incubator the first time with expensive eggs will make a body sweat! I'm getting ready to do a HUGE EE hatch as all my last ones sold and I didn't get to keep ANY for replacement layers. I've also seen the Brabanter on both the Speckled Sussex and Buff Orps so I'm gathering some brown eggs hoping for a couple crested pullets. I like fun birds in my hen house

That is a great idea for practice hatching! EEs sell very nicely too.

if they are pullets...I did an EE hatch for Beakface's first go round...4/4 all cockerels

I was able to sell the cockerels too. They may have not believed that they were cockerels because of the way they looked though--Pea combs confuse people sometimes.
