Yes we are to some extent talking nuances.

I cried a little when you made curly his coop. It is special when you can ad quality of life to an animal so they dont know there is a problem.

My views have changed a lot the last few years. Im sure there is more to come!

hope that the sick girl gets better quickly!

i got home in time this afternoon to check out my coops post-flooding a bit more carefully -- the water and mud has combined with the partly-composted deep litter in the runs to form a pretty thick pasty muck -- not sure how "cleanable" it really is, as opposed to just letting the top layer dry out, adding some more litter, and hoping the rest composts away below.

and i received a dozen CL eggs in the mail, oh boy! letting them rest overnight, and trying to decide which 8 of my own flock's eggs to add in to the incubator (which holds 20) with them!
I am soooo disappointed. Of the 45 cream legbar eggs I had shipped, 3 are developing. The air sacs were damaged but I was hopeful some would develop.

I am not blaming the breeder/shipper. It is my fault. I knew the eggs were being shipped from an area that was experiencing -10 degree weather so I am to blame. I should have waited til Spring, but patience in not a virtue I possess. Also, I am often an unrealistic optimist so a good kick in the butt does me good once in awhile.

I will be happy if I get a good blue gene rooster out of the bunch.

On a good note: I am having superb development from eggs I picked up at the Stockton show. I have 14 Phoenix eggs developing from Rambob59 and 12 for 12 Calico Cochins bantams from Chooklet. Yeah, local eggs!!!

I am putting more bedding down to absorb more of the water and adding some stepping stones...do I have a vote about what you put in the bator??

that makes me happy that you say that?
I fell in love with my husband a little more when he suggested it

He had buddies and normalcy and I don't think he knew he was different. He was quite perky the whole way through.

Just ordered my Octagon 20 Advance///Can;t wait for it to get here.

Also..I have a second hen that has gone broody...my little black Cochin mix banty. The broody coop has 2 nest boxes in it. Do any of you let broodies share a coop? It's not a huge coop...the one from Costco. It is 78.11" x 32.87" x 47.91". This is the link for it:
I was thinking of adding a coop dedicated to a couple of bantam broodies. Would like to know others experiences with two broodies sharing the same coop.

Just a little yellow yolky
Ok maybe someone else could give better input here.
I think iodine would be good on the "belly button" here.
Chiqita had me put in Vetricyn on a chick that some yolk hadn't absorbed yet. If the yolk isn't absorbed you risk infection. So either of the two.
I would try to do a little more sugar water before you go to bed. It'll give energy . You could just dip the beak and see that it drinks. Then again in the morning

so sorry to read this! i received 12 eggs, and while i don't have high hopes for my ability to bring them all through to hatching (my success rate has been SO low with my first two attempts!), if by chance they do well, i'll be glad to share.

sure, if you'd like! i am currently waffling between three campine eggs (she only recently started laying again and the eggs are small, so not sure they'd hatch or do well?), three isbar/SFH eggs (a swedish mix! might be pretty!), and/or a bunch of the F2 crosses between the isbar/marans girls and their isbar boyfriend. there's room for 8 more eggs...
