California - Northern

The sun is SHINING today. Beautiful ! I wish I had known and had scheduled to drive to happy chooks but I'm no weather lady ;-) ( and the flex needs her check up before I drive out)

Thought I'd put it out there again to see if anyone could add to my bird gathering drive? I promised to go before the end of feb so I'll have to keep better track of the sunny days. I'm picking two layers to keep my serama warm and hope to add a few more on this trip. Chicks are fine .

Jason do you have babies ready? Idk who else is in the route to happy chooks?

Ok. We are running out of space for setting and it is time to break out the humidair.

Ladt year we went digital. This year I need to replace the lining on the door. I dont know what it is or what to use! The door is old and not 100% plumb so I need something a little thick. It looks like what is there now is rubber like in old refridgerators? Any ideas? I dont even know what to look for....

So some nasty @#$%# (person) turned me in to the chicken police (Code enforcement). It was weird. Not a noise violation, or anything like that. They complained to code enforcement. So my plan is to downsize my flock, and fight the city. I got the letter last Monday and cried all day Monday. Tuesday I put my big girl pants on, gathered all the eggs I had, and put them in the 'bator (chickens under 6 months old are excluded from the city animal code). I already found Melvin a new home, and sent a couple girls over to my parents house for a while. Has anyone else gone through this? I technically can't have any chickens, but my neighbors on both sides can have 10. If anyone close to me wants some hens, send me a message. I would rather re-home them to a fellow BYC-er.

Your might get something like this to work:

i don't know if this is universal, but my utility bill (PG&E) now shows a little graph of daily energy usage -- so you can track when you turn on/off your incubator or etc. and see if it has any effect? since i'm on a well with an electric pump, i can easily see the days i water the yards as spikes in my electrical usage -- and when i had housesitters staying here over the holidays, while i was in NY, their usage was double or triple my average -- i think they had the furnace on WAY more than i usually do.

@tommysgirl if you were serious about wanting me to set some eggs for you, please let me know -- i'd like to get the incubator up and running today!

I was joking/dreaming. sorry! Good Luck. I am still going to want eggs at some point but not right now.

If so, try getting the council to change the Ordinance to be more like Woodland and Davis. We are allowed 6 hens not matter how large the lot is.

Thanks I'll have to look at the map lol! I'm trying to get this years collection in before the baby comes.
Jason is down Hwy 50, I'm down I-80. I believe @Chooklet is nearby.
Duh! I just realized that there is a mountain to go around to get to you. I'll have to drive up to truckee then down i80. What a brain fart that was. Can't get to the i50 on this trip !
