If the hens think he is being too rough, they "rescue" their sister. He does the dance, but he also chases them. I have no idea if the eggs are fertile....

The Marans Rooster is huge at 19 weeks old but he is very friendly too. I hop copper is like my FBC Marans!

I did the lemon curd and it's delicious. I plan to serve it over french toast later this week.

I guess it is getting to be late in the season for hatching eggs.

Your Creles look better all the time. Let me know when yours are ready.

Then I will drive up the hill to get them(hatching eggs that is).

sounds good like the family truckster pic too by the way.
Crele's are rarer than the rest anyways and you can tell the sex at birth.
boys kinda grey and the females brown. plus the boys are very nice looking

I'm glad to see he's doing better.

Is that rhubarb growing there next to him? If so, make sure he (or any of your other chickens) don't have access to eating it. The leaves can be toxic. Chickens will pick at most things green and no, they don't instinctively know something is bad for them. Too many cases of them eating styrofoam insulation, along with anything else they can get their beaks on.

that is acanthus mollis. gets a nice spiky lavender pink flower. gets dry looking without water though

that is acanthus mollis. gets a nice spiky lavender pink flower. gets dry looking without water though

We had no idea what it was called. The first year we lived here one of the kids trimmed it and it died. Like DEAD. Then this Spring it magically came back and had these gorgeous little flower stalks. We've been watering it.
