One Vial does 50 Hens?

We need more Hens!

I have 7 laying pullets, 6 chicks that just hatched, and more eggs in the incubator! So, our goal is 50 hens between the two of us?!!!

When I checked on the hatch this afternoon, 7 more had hatched. One more is working on hatching. They will leave 4 that did not hatch out of 44 set. That is 40 chicks!

All of The OEs that I moved to the hatcher hatched!

I think we are close enough. We have a small window to inseminate after the vial thaws.

Lmao I was going to say I think we should have a battle of the chickens and everyone can fight for the favord breed. The onlookers can have chicken face paint and comb hats and yell from the sidelines.

Im sure showgirls will win.

Only that would require some of us to name a favorite breed. I have mine narrowed down to 4

I am keeping a Splash and a Crele X UofA blue that is dark colored with a very nice whit spot on the head. Supposed to be a pullet if it managed to keep the auto sexigng from the Crele penes.

I will post pictures of the two tonight.

Hi, I don't think I've posted in this thread before but I am from Acampo. I just got started in chickens last April. I went in on a friend's order to get 6 SLW. Well, wouldn't you know it, my friend offered me one of the extra chicks in the order, a barred rock, and I couldn't say no. Right off the bat that "chicken math" got to me. LOL Then I was looking around on craigslist and found an ad for some local orpingtons and went and picked up three of them, two of which ended up being roosters. We are enjoying our chickens immensely and now I want to hatch some out and add some that lay different colored eggs too. The problem I have now is that I need a bigger coop.

Welcome! Seems we have the same problem, lol! I can't wait to get the new coop finished so I can start my own "chicken math"
