7 of the 9 d'Anver eggs hatched. They are so tiny! Looking like 4 khaki quail, 2 dun quail and 1 porcelain. They are SO friendly! When I come into the room they all come running to see me! :love Couldn't get them to line up! They race around like baby quail!
What gorgeous little ones! That little porcelain is my favorite :). That's a color I need to add to my flock.

I warned you back then that they are extremely addicting :). I have 20 eggs in lockdown right now. You cannot have just one or ten!

My guineas are a crackup. I have 10 that free range with my layer pen. They let me know when anything is amiss, out of place or scary (planes flying overhead, empty feeder, sun going down... ) Our poor relief UPS driver is terrified of them, won't get out of his truck. They chase it down the drive

Scared? Of guineas? Hmm, aren't they much smaller than the driver? The driver needs to learn how bigger size generally dominates in the wild.
I can just picture this flock of guineas chasing the UPS truck like kids chasing an ice cream truck.

Totally adorable!!! I need to make time to take some pics of mine. I've been kind of waiting for the ones that were goopy at hatch to fluff out some more.

It's that way with chickens for me! My husband told me to set all the Pita Pinta eggs last week. Then when he came home and saw all the eggs in the incubators, eggs on the counter, and brooders with chicks he said to me, "You are going to sell them on craigslist, aren't you?!" Must take pics and post an ad to show him that I'm trying to be good!

I've given up trying to be good. I don't do very well at it. Fortunately my hubby is mostly an enabler. I was good last fall and pretty much cut my flocks down to just the birds I would be breeding this year (plus a few pets like my little charity case rooster). So now the cycle will be in full swing again with two incubators full and two brooders reaching capacity. Oh hubby??? I need some more growout pens please

(I usually build them myself, but I have to pretend to ask..)
