I have heard that fragile packages often fare better when they are NOT marked "fragile".  Sometimes I think the carrier takes it as a personal challenge and does their best to handle it roughly.  I'm glad not are broken.  Hope they settle well and you get a good hatch!

You know I have always thought that was bs. But I wonder if maybe boxes are safer in the middle of the pallet with the unfragile things?

I know no one is trying to break things and I think the poor po guys get a bad rap.

And thats with my ladt 2 packages both being broken lol.

7 of the 9 d'Anver eggs hatched. They are so tiny! Looking like 4 khaki quail, 2 dun quail and 1 porcelain. They are SO friendly! When I come into the room they all come running to see me!

Couldn't get them to line up! They race around like baby quail!

Quote: I hope they don't do it out of carelessness. But I do think sometimes they just don't think. I have a good sized mail box but sometimes I get stuff that is too big to fit. My old carrier would always bring the box and the mail up and put it all on the porch so I didn't have to walk out to the box. We always have a substitute around the holidays and this past year they would bring the package only and put it on the porch. I had to put a note inside asking that they bring it all up if they are bringing a box anyway. They have done so every time since then.

Sorry to hear about the shingles. I hope if either of us gets them it is me, trying to imagine how whiny DH would be if he got them.
I havn't been a champ that's for sure! Got one on my eye. It's bad. Going to see the DR again tomorrow AM. I am told that the 1st doc is wrong because other people have been nursing and on the same meds. So I'm going to a different doc. It's hard not to be whiny!

That said, I think it would be awful if my oldest (son) got them, he'd become a complete invalid. That's just his way. If he has a headache he worries that it is brain cancer!

Totally adorable!!! I need to make time to take some pics of mine. I've been kind of waiting for the ones that were goopy at hatch to fluff out some more.
Waiting for pictures

My first d'Anver to hatch, the little lavender (khaki) chick was all slimy! Not sure why. The other chicks hatched out normal. That is why she doesn't look as fluffy as the others.

That's the color DD is holding for. I had no idea they came in so many varieties, I'm hoping for blue or lab cuckoo. The ginger reds are unusual also.
Have you been on Boggy Bottom Bantams website? WOW! is all I can say when looking at all those different colors! I did post pictures on the d'Anver thread to ask Aubrey what color he thought the one that looks lavender is and he said he thinks it will be a solid khaki. He also said he was sort of jealous because he has never hatched that color before! I have been meaning to buy some eggs from his porcelains to go with the pair (can't breed them, they are brother and sister) I got from another breeder. You are going to have some neat colors. I especially like the ginger reds! Hope you get a good hatch!

..trimming post is hard on droid phone!...
You should set the eggs as soon as they come to room temperature. Age is very important for hatching. No matter what the air cells look like, do not turn them for 3 to 5 days and set them in the incubator big end up.

Hi Ron, in an RCom they lie flat... should I prop them up?

Uhhh.. I spoke fox too soon.
We caught a bobcat in our trap. Do I need to worry about if it is female?

Did we figure out what is legal to do in this situation?

Call Fish and game. If you catch them killing something you can kill them but you have to get a permit the next or same day.
I would call fish and game to see if they can relocate hem.
I want a pet Bobcat lol. not really but they sure are really cool

You can put them in a egg carton but mine hatch fine laying down. I have a Rcom 20
