I have a huge Humidaire one that Karen Anderson was wanting to buy to start her Heritage breed preserve but My husband didn't want to sell it. He wants to keep playing with it. He says it needs a simple fan & some wicks for the humidity method. I tried to get paperwork for it but they are out of business & have been for awhile. I think it holds 600 goose eggs.........................LOL I would have to be starting a commercial ranch..............LOL

Ahhh I bought a humidifier and digital controler im installing in mine karen for an automatic system. I will tell you how it goes.
my poor chickens aren't feeling well... they're having respiratory problems :'(

How bad? If its minor id try using one of the air things for an oxine mister first. If not it depends on symptoms.

I'll try.  He cooperated and kept crowing until I could figure out which one he was.  Then he stopped.  I'm sure he will be back at it.  He was so proud of himself!  He must be taking after his granddaddy Orlando!

Omg after taking the winter off orlando has gone mad with the spring. Sooo loud.
I just read the thread. Seed starter mats don't have the auto-off feature but they are bigger than heating pads.

I have used seed starter matts and reptile heating matt things for chicks. It is only hot enough when it does not get really cold. But baby quail love it for basking.

I look forward to seeing it!

We have a couple different sizes, some for single flats and some for double flats as well. The plants are DH's job. Most of them he starts are delayed getting moved up and end up leggy or go to seed in the greenhouse. I have plenty to do without getting involved with plants other than moving sprinklers or turning on drip irrigation lines in a planned succession so I don't overwork the well pump.

I am now! Thanks. I'm just wonder about the auto-iff feature most heating pads have now
They were talking about a Sunbeam one that can be auto off or it can stay on. Sunbeam 2013-912 XpressHeatHeating Pad, Extra Large (12" x 24") On amazon it is $34.88 with free shipping for Prime members.

Wouldn't it be fun to have their 40 acre set up though?!!!

I grew up on 40 acres! There was an irrigation slough, Creek, Prune Orchard and lots of different trees!....
I can't imagine 40 acres of chickens. Maybe with grazing animals also but knowing my limitations they would not end up in my freezer.
....It was a lot of work but a great place to grow up. I think 5 to 10 acres. would be great.

My friend's farm in Brentwood is 10 acres. I would take 10 acres of farm with a surrounding buffer zone of 30 acres!
