California - Northern

I'm getting eggs fromtline 2 year old layers.
They're huge!
So I wondered egg size weights.
EXTRA large is over 64 grams
Jumbo is over 71 grams

Mine were 73-75 and one was 77 grams!

They must think they're turkeys!

Those are Jumbo eggs! I have a couple that lay eggs that big.

Hi, I am joining BYC and i am on the hunt for my own chickens. I am CackleJoys son

Welcome! You have a great teacher!

this maybe a home remedy or old wives tale. for worm prevention I put di a tame cues earth on the cats food. the small microscopic edges cut up the worms. occasionally give them worm meds . the d/e works great.

I figured I had so many pictures of my older daughter with the chickens that I thought I'd better take some photos of the 5-year-old!

Of course, once she noticed that I was getting ready to take a picture of her cuddling with Quiche, she had to get up and pose (the not-posed was so much cuter, naturally *sigh*)

Someone laid a speckled egg today! Not that you can really tell in this pic (and it was sunny enough outside that I didn't know you couldn't see anything until I took the photos off my phone tonight). It's the shiny one.

Tried taking closer pictures a few minutes ago, to show the speckles better, but all I have is my phone, which isn't great.

Found some more pics from earlier this week. Quiche really likes to be held--at least by my daughters. I guess I'm too big and scary...
Adorable pictures!

Well it appears we have a second bobcat..also comfortable with coming on my covered porch with the light on and someone in the room.

At this point im worried about everyone..and the dog!

Time for the trap again!
Happy Sunday!
Good example of chicken math:
I may have to steal this one!

so here's the first snap of the two most-likely-white-recessive-sports marans that hatched yesterday, from eggs from two birchen hens crossed with a birchen cockerel -- there is also one black chick, and three eggs that have not yet hatched, hoping they will today. they are very cute, despite being rather unexpected from two black adults!
They are soo cute!

Quote: Can't wait to see them!

Hi!

Thanks for the tip!

DE has a limited ability to kill worms when wet. It helps but if they have worms they need medicine.

DE will slow them down so you should not need to worm them as often.

So far for this hatch, Group W33 has been the Champ!

I set 6 eggs to hatch and 6 eggs did hatch! They were in two tomato Baskets.

Maybe Kim should call her line of SG Dorkings Beef Steak Dorkings!

Also, they all have perfect feet and can you imagine more perfect looking SG Dorking Chicks?

This is a picture of three of them:

Yeah................... for Kim. It makes me want them again. She has beautiful birds & even her (#3 cull, I think she said) throw away is beautiful. She says he has too much color but hopefully he will put more on mine.
