Welcome back Debs-flock, is it possible to downsize? I haven't been able to but I really don't want to.

Hello Darcee and any other new friends to the thread.

Final candle at lockdown
9/12 d'Anvers
5/6. SDW phoenix
2/12 part rock bantams, I left 5 in that I'm pretty sure have quit.
Set 30 eggs so % going down, down, down.

Chickee, BBB's eggs are going great! To bad my breed is falling out.
They sure are!!!

And so are mine! Out of 24 eggs it looks like only around 6 or less aren't growing! I sure want porcelain pullets for my favorite porcelain rooster! I tried last year but nome of the porcelains grew.

We only got 2 porcelain eggs but both are kicking around in the shell. Blue Cuckoo are nice but I'd rather a lavendar. Both ginger reds are still going also.

I replied via my cell phone but I don't know if it got to you... I am happy you have MANY! Any chance of getting a list? lol...

Thank you!

At 5 weeks if its not under freezing they are fine. Mind you I understand the urge to baby. My silkie chicks all still fit in my palm at 5 weeks lol. Can you open the house part from the top and cover the door with a clear Plastic thing so light still comes in? Or chicken wire or some such?
Be extra vigilant about racoons if there is no door on the coop part.

We had three dead juvi quail this morning. Too cold I suppose. Dd cried quite a bit cause we forgot to check "weather channel". No one is laying still and spirits are low with this snow . Spring come back!!!!!

They just found the radiation from Japan last week in Washington State on the coast.

It is barely detectable. The odd veggies were likely caused by something else, like parasitic nematode.

When mine lay eggs like that, it is usually because I flaked out on giving the calcium.

We free feed oyster and still see porous shells here and there. I heard mention somewhere about lime. Any knowledge of types and cautions on that?
I'm probably a little far from you, but I'm getting ready to do some serious down-sizing.  Is there anything in particular you are looking to find?  I hate to say it, but someone else will...................I have MANY different breeds and none of them are hatchery stock.

Deb

I'm grounded from lower elevation travel til baby comes. BUT... I can't help covering a few if your beautiful birds. Hatching eggs from lower elevation ( even driven) up here has been the pits this year. Wondering if it's all the gmo grains falling into effect . Anyhow I digress... I'm still wishing for cream legbar, Banty Cochin ( did u have Colombian ?) campine, .... What breeds made your cut list so far? You really do have so many it must be hard to choose!

Are there any Orpington breeders in NCA? I am going to wait for getting a show chicken and start out with a pet. I love their fluffyness and friendlyness also, saw some chicks at the feed store and out of all the chicks they didn't runaway from side of the cage like all the others breeds. Also I don't think I want to clip wings just yet and all the books I read say they don't fly/don't fly well.

Yes!

Some very good ones too!

I am sure they will pop in here soon.
