California - Northern

You may or may not remember, but I had that Muscovy egg with the air cell at the pointy end... Well, with a little help it's out of it's shell!

Good job!

BCollie, I agree with Chickee. Your chicks will grow to be splash. I would look for dark charcoal down on legs and fluff on the next chicks if you want blues. You should have no trouble placing the splashes, most people want them.
Here is my blue hen.
Beautiful bird!

Could something be wrong internally with my phoenix hens?like egg bound maybe? My standard hens are still getting pver lice but neither phoenix has them anymore
Nikki....I don;t know much about internal alying, but there wouls be signs I would think. Hopefully someone here will be able to tell you what to look for, but from other feedback earlier, it sounds like it is not uncommon for that breed to not lay.

Quote: The blue Laced are the one I keep trying to get eggs for from Papa Brooder, but when he has them, my incubators are full...and when I have space he doesn't have eggs....

Arrg!!! The power went out this morning. No telling when it will be back. I bundled up the incubator & brought it to work with me.
That's pretty funny! It would not go over well at my job though. I work for the county....

I am at my daughter's next door to me right now but am getting ready to go back home. This morning I woke up to chicks. There are at least 4 of the Mottled Japanese from Chooklet that she gave me the eggs at the Youth poultry show in Modesto 3 weeks ago & at least 4 BCMs from my own eggs the darkest layers & some AMs too. At least these guys will have company to grow with. I will wait til later today & take my 4 year old grand son over & let him watch them through the clear viewing window on top. He will be so excited..................LOL
I hope there are more coming. I actually candled these with my new candler & took out all clears & quiters.

Yeah!!! More chicks!!!!

Myphoenix hens were in a pen with a roo but not now. would thry be moulting in spring?
My broody hen is moltling terribly right now. She started right around when her eggs hatched (4 weeks ago?). She stood up to bring the chicks out..shook and feathers went every where! I am still finding them all over and she looks pretty bad!

Going to the feed store to pick up some chick starter... god give me the strength to resist the temptation of these adorable chicks

I was fortunate that TSC did not have any when I was in there this morning. I also looked for Killing Cones there and none of those either.....but they did have trffic cones for only $8.99! Much better than $29 plus shipping for the real thing. I also picked up a couple of packets of Sav-a-chick probiotics and electrolytes to have on hand.
