Might be just as well. Sounds like she was on them for quite a while and in need of a break anyway. Hopefull after the break she will go broody for you again soon .
My favorite hen has learned how to get over the 6ft fence of their yard. She jumps on top of the nest box then onto the fence and flies down. I had to cut the naughty thing's wing so she can't get out any more.
I had to cover the pen for that reason. So far they haven't tried in out in the yard since they were young pullets.

Feedback requested and appreciated......

This is the one Mottled Ameraucana chick from the first clutch that survived. It looks like a pullet (thank goodness), but doe these look like ear tufts? I know Aracaunas hane them, but didn;t think Ameraucanas did.

Pretty markings. Does she have yellow legs?

I've never seen tufts growing out, so can't help.
This was from Stockton 2013, so you can see if your girl's are growing from the same location.

What was crossed with ameraucana to get the pattern. Kinda looks like tufts I have heard it has popped up but you may want to ask jerry on the ameraucana thread

I am interested in knowing this, too. The mottling looks a lot like my Pita Pinta mottling.

What feed store carries D'uccles? And where do they buy them? I want to see photos of your newbies :)
One of the feed stores close to me has them (in Orangevale). @alibra I just pick up a Mille Fleur d’Uccle at the feed store this weekend (I couldn't help it).

My hen with ascites that I've been tending to for a year just died.

I'm sorry. I hate when that happens.

I was looking at some of my older chicks yesterday, and noticed that my black Sizzle/Frizzle/whatever has a little bit of a cross beak. It that something that can show up later? I haven't noticed it until now (they are about 12 weeks old)

I'm heading out to the City Council meeting tonight. They are going to vote on weather or not they are going to have the planning board start the process to alter the backyard chicken code. Think good thoughts for me -- and all our Citrus Heights chicken peeps.
