They stopped carrying it here....

When I called to order the King Freedom from An Jan last week, they said they didn't carry it.

But I was suspicious, since I had just gotten a bag the month before, and they were still listed on the King dealer list.
So after finally remembering to call during business hours, I managed to get someone who knew they could order it.

Now all I have to remember to do is go by and pick it up during normal business hours!

Well poop.I think my free ranging bresse pullet looks to have cocci. I realized the symptoms right AFTER I gave her nutridrench.

I cursed a bit and made a strong dose of s stuff. I'm hoping I'm not too late. I saw a bloody poo yesterday but thought it was lining.

I put her under a heat lamp in q. Hopefully I can save her

Tis the season for cocci! I hope that your Bresse recovers! I noticed some poo with a small bit of red in it on Sat in one of my outdoor brooders. Sun was Easter and a crazy busy day so I didn't spend much time with the chickens. Monday, there was bloody poo all over in the brooder and one noticeably sick chick. I started treating all the chicks in that brooder with the S medicine and the brooder above it with Amprolium. I was gone all day and when I came home, the sick chick was dead. There was new bloody poo the next day but no chicks that looked sick. Today on day 3, no bloody poo at all. Now, should I clean out the whole brooder now or wait another day or 2? Also is there something that I can spray it with? And lastly, do I need to repeat this treatment in a week or two?

Of the major manufacturers of Layer feed which would you recommend. I'm not sure about organic or not. I know I have some time before they switch over from starter grower and Ill probably have to do something about the orps being younger and lay later but Ill figure it out. Just trying to prepare a bit.
I've been very pleased with King Freedom GMO free feed. It is also corn and soy free. Concord Feed on Hookston carries it now. And they are having a sale day on May 10. Everything in the store is 20% off. I am going to load up on King feed plus buy a roll of fencing.

That is sad to lose one.

The treatment is 5 to 7 days at full strength and then 5 to 7 days at 1/2 strength to build immunity. You will often have to treat again if the second half strength dose is skipped.

I might be a good idea to give at big chickens a treatment dose of corid for a couple of days each month. It will help them keep the load down and may over time help get rid of cocci at your place.

There is really no way to get rid of it if the others have it and are immune to it. I have not had to treat the new ones for it this year. The NYD chicks were fine and the three in the brooder are going on 7 weeks old and ok so far. I have to watch them now though.

Thanks for the reminder about the sale! I may have to go buy a couple more bags myself! And maybe a few other things! LOL! Feed stores are so fun! I know, it's a sickness!

Ron, so this recommendation is for amprolium/corrid. Do you know if it is the same for sulfadimethoxine? Unfortunately, it seems like the amprolium is not working well against the cocci that I have here but the S drug knocks it out. All the rest of the chicks seem fine today. This will be day 4 of treatment.

I hope the feed store is ready for those of you who will be stocking up. Did they give rain checks if they run out? Or is it just first come first serve?

hrm.. that might be worth a drive, how much is the feed normally do you remember?

My pullet died last night :( I'm sending her in, you never know. But I inspected poop this morning and everyone seems fine. I am worried about giving corid in the water right now because both ducks are in the main coop sitting on eggs and corid is not great for them since the need more bs and drink insane amounts of water.

This episode made me think I might get some liquid corid for emergencies, you can give it straight in emergencies right? or is it like liquid aspirin too toxic and cant be given that way?

Pumpkins is a trooper and adopted 10 duck eggs to her pile last night. My vet friend brought eggs down from so cal .. a LOT of eggs! So with those 90 eggs in the incubator the magic Dicky is getting full! I'M hoping I don't randomly get 200 eggs in the mail this week, that would be tricky.. ( DON'T ask..)

So sorry that you lost her, chiqita.

The one I lost was a Pita Pinta/CL mix with a pea comb. She would have been a green egg layer! How long does liquid Corid last once it's been opened? I saw some at Concord Feed the other day and thought about getting it.

Wow! You are egg rich!!! I set a group of eggs last night that will be due to hatch mid May and then I'm going to take a break from hatching.
