Crossing cornish and Barred Rocks will not get you the monster that the hatcheries sell. Those are three and 4 way crosses with their special versions of each.

Try to get nice big breeder versions of Barred Rocks and Buff Cornish. @debs_flock has very nice big Barred Rocks. I do not know who has nice Buff Cornish but if you can find some you will be much closer to getting nice meat birds. They will not be ready in 6 weeks though.
Thank you! Not going to try and raise Cornish, just thought they would be the easiest for our first attempt with meat chickens.

Running thru the threads here have got my mad scientist brain going; I just have to keep it scaled down so as not to take over the entirety of our 1/2 acre; or my poor husbands sanity! Currently have 2 Orps and a Barred Rock hen (feed-store chicks) that are 1 year and just got BCMs and Light Sussex (as well as 2 CLB pullets and some cochins). From what I understand Marans and Orps are supposed to be really good and Legbars and Sussex aren't bad either...just one more excuse to get an incubator before next spring.

ok, report back? ( and what is a POT? <<)
Potentiometer

Someone on the Easter HAL was adjusting it and then complaining the Brinsea Eco was hard to adjust. It is hidden and not supposed to be adjusted by the user on that model. I will pop the top off of mine to see if it has one.

I crossed Freedom Rangers to Sulmtalers and have super chunky 10 week olds. I anticipate this cross being able to be processed at 14 to 16 weeks. If anyone is interested in a trio I would be willing to sell them at the cost of raising them because I would like to get other peoples feed back.

So adorable. I am impressed by how gentle she is being.
She's pretty awesome, always goes out to the garage with me to check on "her" babies. She is getting really good but I still won't leave her alone with them and the brooder is up on buckets so she can't reach them herself. Or we'd probably wake up to babies in her bed!

And your bunnies are adorable!

Makes me miss raising them.

Hi there, I currently have 3 screechy fluffy Serama broodies, I swear new one every day. I had an Aseel that successfully hatched/raised my first batch of Seramas. I had a broody EE that brooded Serama eggs without breaking them until a 10 lb Buff Orp pushed her off the nest and broke them :(

I hope some of us take you up on this offer!

Post pictures when you process them please.

I haven't seen one that big in years, lol. -Kathy

A few years ago we had ducklings and my son made the mistake of taking one to bed and then falling asleep. He woke up covered in poop. He won't make that mistake again.
