It is good to hear that the Food grade DE is working for you!

It is more easily absorbed by the Hens so you do not need much. If I start seeing weak shells, I will give it to them for several days and then make sure they have access to Oyster Shell Calcium.
King Freedom GMO Free Feed has DE mixed in with it. I'm going to have to research how much. I think that they might have changed the label on the Freedom feed. I just noticed that at the bottom they now have underlined in bold capital letters CONTAINS PEANUT MEAL. I'm not too thrilled with that because in addition to avoiding corn and soybeans, I also try to avoid all peanuts.

The Freedom feed did not have too much calcium in it so likely not much DE.

King Feed claims the peanuts do not get into the eggs at all, so the will not cause allergic reactions(if true) to those allergic to peanuts. Of course it would not be good for those with allergies to handle the feed.

I am still sad that I cannot get King Feed anymore.

I feel like since im reading on the run im not responding to as many posts anymore! I feel like a slacker just saying what is going on with me.

If anyone knows someone who wants a silkie rooster I think I have 3 to rehome. One is a boy directly from hattrick silkies. The other 2 are my breeding. We built coops this weekend and im trying to arrange breeding pens. Im down to 4 but id like 5 with one for testing pairs. Adding sizzles to the thing made everything more complicated!

I lost a serema baby to being clogged up today. He was with his momma and I didnt see it. By the time I found him it was too late :(

Out of my seabrites 5 did not make it to hatch that were developed. So while magic dicky is still going strong with everything of mine that was viable hatching it was 13/24 with the shipped. None pipped internally.

Anyone know if you can get orthodonic bands at a drug store anymore? Cvs did not carry them. And the seabrights look way to much like the oegbs!

I have an email from king feeds regarding the peanuts. My son has an allergy to peanuts. Not deathly, but will throw everything up with the slightest hint of peanut in it. I say this, not to gross you out, but those with worse allergies can decide for themselves.
The email states that the amount of peanut proteins found in the egg were lower than what they deemed as a risk to allergy sufferers.
I'll find it

Ok, here is what King feeds wrotee regarding the peanut
Meal:
"Hi Chrissy
We ran a test early on to look for potential peanut allergen transfer to eggs. Laying flock was fed Freedom GMO-Free Layer Pellets (containing 12.5% Peanut Meal) for 45 days. At the end of feeding period, we sent 10 eggs back to the Food Allergy Research & Resource Program at Univ. of Nebraska-Lincoln for testing for presence of peanut allergens.

The results indicated that any peanut allergens in the eggs were below the limit of quantitation which = 2.5 mg/kg (parts per million). I contacted the Directorof the program and he stated "peanut residues below 2.5 parts per million would present no conceivable health risk to peanut-allergic consumers".

Hope this is helpful!

Sincerely,
Dr. John Throckmorton, Ph.D.
KING Feeds Nutritionist"
