My new little foster puppy. About 4 months old, Border Collie/Pit Bull mix. Gets along with the chickens better than any dog I've ever fostered. She completely ignores them, and when one of the hens decided to attack her she just backed away crying, poor thing! She's such a good little girl! She needs a loving home ;)

So cute!

And you notice the dang incubator on the right was full too? That room was like walking into a hot box. Watch out for the dreaded "chick dust" in your house,

That's awesome Deb! what size bulbs are you using for those lights? And do you just clip them on?
You mentioned it takes you15 minutes to do 4 quail skinning: how long for chickens to process? I need to get a hang of it :)

I liked that last sentence - needing to figure out what to do with them once they hatch! That is our problem. I have a large (to me) broody room but it is starting to look like a hoarder lives there with all of the miscellaneous rubbermaids/icechests, hanging lights and even a broody nest.

Too funny, now I don't feel so bad, lol.

I think most of the bulbs are 75W. I clip them on a table above them or directly on the bin, depending on how low I want the bulb for heat.

It takes me about 45-60 minutes to pluck and eviscerate three chickens, then about another hour to pick out every tiny pinfeather. I'm a little OCD.

I find that's my limit per session because my back starts to hurt from leaning over the sink. But then, I'm a senior citizen!

Okay, it's worse, I also have one of these in the garage.

The top one is heated, the bottom two have Eco-glow heaters. There were seven bins going in the house. It was because I had so many different ages and species. One had quail, one had call ducks, one had ducks and geese, etc, etc.
