California - Northern

Happy Mother's Day!

Hi All! I just posted on the party page, but figured I'd put it here too. I am looking for 2 pet quality Silkie pullets/hens (any color but black) for a friend. If someone is coming to Karen's on Sunday, I could pick them up there. Thanks!

Also, if you haven't looked yet check out the party page as the "want" lists and "have" lists are starting to be posted. It is going to be an awesome day!

I am in Humboldt Count about 200 miles north of S.F. I consider North to be north of S.F. Just my feelings.....Sometimes you hear folks who live in Central CA claiming they are in Northern CA...it just ain't so..We have 14 hens and a rooster and 10 sex link chicks that are about 8 weeks old...Gonna have a lot of eggs next season...
It is great to have you here!

I was born and lived in Tehama County until I was 32. There is a lot of state from Sacramento to the Oregon Border!

Post pictures of you flock when you can.

Welcome...........it doesn't matter where you are. I actually live in Central San Joaquin Valley but spend most of my on line time on BYC Northern California thread.

A temporary pen has been all set up for the little ones, so they're now officially living outside. They'll stay in this pen until they're big enough to live with the big girls. It is housing 3, soon to be 5, babies. This is the biggest I could make it. I put chicken wire on top of it and zip tied it so if a hen jumps on it she won't fall in. It's in a secure, predator proof chicken run.
How long will it take for my pullets to be 3/4 the size of a full grown hen? They're about 6 weeks now. BC Marans, Cream Legbar, and Buff Polish.

Does anyone have an answer to my question? :)

Yay for you! He doesn't know what he is in for.

Ay yi yi! Tell him a scary story like "I'm sorry, my husband just got out of prison. He was away for a loooong time. So this weekend won't work. I'll call you on any other hatches, we'll be keeping these"
I know I wouldn't call you anymore, lol

No need to spy on people on this thread....we all come over to the Dark Side. And it is generally sooner than later..

Mine was only there for a couple of days before I made the plunge....I have no self control.....
