Feathering at different rates for gender only works on a few breeds. Fast feathering is a breed characteristic and can be different by line. Some think fast feathering is an indication that the pullets will lay eggs earlier than average.

At 5 to 6 weeks old, comb and wattles work better to tell if you have a pullet or cockerel.

Whew..............skated on that one. They never billed me and the only bird I've sent was well over a year ago.

They thought poisoning only due to the fact that he hates them. its not mareks ive looked up the symptoms and they were vaccinated. what sort of internal parasites could itbe? and could it effect my hens?

Could be many types of worms.

  • Roundworms
  • Cecal worms
  • Capillary worms
  • Tape worms

Of the above, the three I would worry the most about would be round, capillary and cecal.

FYI, weight loss and dark comb are symtpoms of Marek's. This doesn't list those symptoms, but it does explain the different types of Marek's:

If you haven't de-wormed your flock it might be a good thing to do.
