There's no room outside for an outside brooder--'twas interesting enough finding somewhere to put a temporary quarantine pen. Our property's only 0.16 acres.

Mine isn't much bigger. It's only about a 1/4 acre. I find myself looking at things in the yard and thinking. "Hmmmm...maybe I could put up wire under the steps to the shed and make a pen there", or "There is plenty of room for a brooder box on the deck outside our bedroom....". I have my meat birds in a 1/2 height stock tank on the back deck with chicken wire over the top, but will be moving them to a smaller tub and locking it into the catch to one of my finch flights at night until they get too big. I should have a lockable box built by then

All our buildings are right on the ground, and the way the lot's set up, and since we're on the corner, 90%+ is visible from the streets

And, for some reason, our daughters want to have room to play in the yard

our lot is pretty much at .17 with a 2200 sq ft house the fortunate thing is we back up to a park so no one behind us and are in a court so the neighbor lots are pretty big. As it is the coop has to be against the back wall in order to fit code. My opinion is Chicks don't count as they are always in some temporary state. So right now my brooder is in the garage but I could easily tuck it under the eaves in the back yard. I will probably end up with a rabbit cage hospital/quarantine pen in the near future. It may take me a few years but Im thinking of adding a Duck house in the space near the small coop and adding a bathtub pond as part of an aquaponics system.

5 years from now my plan is to have a fairly effective suburban farm with edible front yard landscaping. If I can do this here in the city I should be able to do even better with better land space.

Our lot is almost 1/3 acre and it is on a small cul-de-sac so pie shaped. 2 other cul-de-sacs back up to our property with lots of trees at the fence line between houses. But I was outside watering this morning and our dog tore across the yard barking like crazy. I thought that it was a squirrel in one of our Cedar trees. But, no! It was a man on top of the shed in the yard behind us. He turned quickly before I could see what he was doing and jumped across to the roof of the house and boogied. I did notice that he had a cell phone in his hand. He wasn't a shady looking character but who can tell these days. I would like to know if he was taking pics of my yard. Fortunately, my chickens were all hiding out under the bushes! I have a couple of young crowing cockerels that we missed taking to the farm. One decided to crow before 6 this morning. The two are spending the night in the garage and headed to the farm in the morning.

Edited to add that thankfully I was dressed for once! I usually do my backyard chores in my PJs and robe!
