California - Northern

I have to chuckle at the mental image. My dog is more helpful with distressed chickens than my family. She is now trained (totally by accident) and barks at me when she hears it. (and she can tell the difference between the egg song and the alarm call)
I need to train the Dog!

She is too little and quiet though....

Most daily chicken and garden duties have fallen to my 19 year old daughter because I'm working 50 miles away (bay area commutes make that about 2 hours during peak times) but she and the rest of the family left today for the long weekend. I'm sure the chickens will miss her tomorrow. She had been the one with the Watermelon and letting them out to play for a little bit every day. May have to actually "hire" her if I get pens set up some place. Hopefully I can get everything finished this weekend and her "chores" will go down a bit.

Sigh... I just found a well hidden Muscovy nest with 5 hatched, 10 pipped and 2-3 more that haven't pipped! What in the heck am I going to do with another 15 ducklings?

If only I could take some off your hands I would. Id make the trip to get them this weekend too but alas if my wife came home from the vacation to ducks too Id be the one sleeping in the coop.

I had a great hatch from your eggs 2 yrs ago & kept one lovely hen. She's so mellow and a great layer.

Added - I hatched with a broody though, not an incubator (just to be fair).
Thanks for the shout out. Thrilled you are happy with your girls. I love Basque, they are one of my favorite breeds.
